Default Center Harbor Post Office Box increase!

Anyone questioning the huge increase for the po box in Center Harbor? Up to now $210.00, when others are still around $84.00 or so. I cannot comprehend that much of an increase for Center Harbor!

Everything else is going up so it's no surprise that the Postal Service has raised their P.O. Box fees during their last rate increase in July of 2023. The USPS has been running a deficit for each of the last 17 years. If it weren't a Government enterprise they would have been out of business a long time ago.

Your best be is to either receive FREE street delivery, or convert to a smaller Post Office Box.

The USPS is not funded through taxes.
So it is like a business, that is poorly run by its management team - the US Congress.

Already have a small box, and driveway is not an option as I am on a rural dirt road with a very long drive and not visible to see. Security would be a concern for mail. I guess my thought was why Center Harbor, if Post Office is federal and others did not go up such as this. Friends still pay approximately $84.00 yearly in a different town.

They likely will see an increase at some point if they haven't yet. You should call around to different towns and figure out if it may be worthwhile to switch your delivery there instead....

If you have a P.O. Box you can receive your mail wherever you want (even though you may not physically live in the same town).

Can you still get it "general delivery"? They hold it for you until you pick it up and you don't need a box.

My PO BOX costs went up three fold , I was told its because of a new mail distribution warehouse close to CH now and that's the reason behind the price increase.

I think the PO is missing something. If I want pizza delivered, it's $4 plus tip. If I pick it up at the store, it's free.

You can pick up “general delivery” at the PO and it is free!

Actually it's run by DeJoy who has other shipping interests which compete with USPS. So it's no surprise that he had a lot of sorting machines destroyed. The question is why he is still there, having be appointed by the previous administration.

DeJoy decided to play ball with the reforms.

Maybe try panhandling out front that Center Harbor Post Office with a cardboard sign that say ........ "need money for P.O. Box" ..... at least it will display a public message and protest the huge price increase.

This just shows how mismanaged the usps is. It’s not the towns fault
