1950 - "Where to in the Lakes Region" Magazine
(Photo above is of the Ledges on Newfound Lake) You're all familiar with the "Where to in New Hampshire" Magazines which are still published and can be found at most rest stops and tourist information booths. I have come across one from 1950. It includes a description of each town arranged by lake; Lake Winnipesaukee, Newfound Lake, Squam Lake and Ossipee Lake etc. It also has sections that describe; Boy's and Girl's Camps, Industry, Agriculture, Hunting, Boating, Photo Contest, Fishing, Skiing, Theatre and Real Estate. I wish I could scan the whole thing but it is 104 pages and too time-consuming! I'll also intersperse a few postcards for comparison purposes. Recognize the building above? It is across from the Riverview Cemetary in Alton Village and is now owned by NH Public Servce Electric Coop (or whatever it is called!)
