Very Cold Morning!
The air temperature is currently 0 degrees at the lake in West Alton. I took this photo around 8am looking out at Sleepers, Cub, Treasure and Rattlesnake Islands. Cub is the island in the center of the photo. The icy fog floating above the ice is very pretty.

Very Cold Morning
Thanks for the incredible picture DRH. I enjoy your shots because they remind me of fun times at the sand bar just north of you. I can't wait for the Ice Out shots, those are my favorite! It means I'll be on the water again soon.

Nice. I am wondering about fog setting up on Monday now. They said the rain is now going to hold off until Monday instead of Sunday. Then the big freeze. Can't wait for the rain to melt the snow and then freeze up. Oh Boy!

This morning around 8am I got to my bobhouse on alton bay and the fog was lifting and all the trees surrounding the bay were all covered in white ice crystal, breathtaking, what a way to start the day!

Brrr
Thanks for the picture, DRH. Took the liberty of adding it to my Photo Gallery. It will definitely put in perspective the 15-18 degree days we have just had here, and will bring back to my husband his bobhouse days of old!

I read a story the other day about a Holiday Inn in the UK that was instituting a new bed warming service. Two volunteer employees would dress in a head to toe suit and lay in your bed long enough to warm it up. I wonder if they would come out to Bear Island?

I purchased an electric mattress pad at The Christmas Tree Shop ($19.99) right after the holidays. What a difference it makes! I highly recommend it.

An electric mattress pad! What a phenomenal idea!!! The older I get, the more I dread the cold sheets in the winter. My little heating pad does great, but only heats a teeny patch. Looks like I'll be heading over to Amazon and searching out a new mattress pad. Thanks!!!

JC Penney
I always order mine from JC Penney. The Christmas Tree Shop price sounds phenomenal.
By the way, Pepper, I pre heat the bed an hour or more ahead of time. This also allows me to keep the heat lower at night, warm bed, cool air; great for sleeping. IG

I'll say ...
The Christmas Tree Shop price IS phenomenal! I couldn't find one for less that $79 when I checked. I guess that purchase will wait a while ...

Pepper
You might want to check Walmart for the electric mattress pad. That's where I got mine a few years ago.

Flannel Sheets
Nothing like flannel sheets. They warm up fast and keep you toasty all night and morning!

I'm with BroadHopper. They really don't require any warmup at all!

DRH, I asked the wife if she wanted a winter lake background for her PC. She took one look from across the room and yelled, hey thats Echo Shores! Her parents sold there place there in the late 80's
Great pic but it would look better to me in July |
