Default Black Brook Book

I know there are many history buffs on the forum who are interested in local history and enjoy learning (or remembering) what the Lakes Region was like “back in the day.” The Laconia Historical and Museum Society has recently published a book on the Black Brook section of Laconia (Lakeport) which is currently on sale through their website. It contains over a hundred photos, some dating back to the 1900s. It also contains narratives written from researching deeds and talking to older residents who lived or worked there over the years. If you are interested in learning more about the Black Brook Book and possibly obtaining a copy, you may do so by going to the Laconia Historical and Museum Society website using the link below. It is a chance to learn more about those who came before us, as well as helping the Historical Society with their goal of preserving a bit of history for future generations.

Default Black Brook Book

The first 50 copies of the book, "Black Brook: A Historical View of the Northerly Section of Lakeport, New Hampshire,” sold out within two weeks. A second printing was ordered and copies are once again available.

Copies may be ordered by sending $29.95 per copy ($36.95 if book to be mailed) to Laconia Historical and Museum Society, P.O. Box 1126, Laconia, NH 03247. If the book is to be picked up locally, provide a phone number, e-mail address or other contact information. Books may also be purchased directly from the Belknap Mill. Call 524-8813 to arrange pick-up time.

Default Black Brook Book

It is my understanding that there are only 7 copies of the Black Brook Book remaining and it is not expected any more will be printed. Time is of the essence for anyone who would like to purchase a copy. Contact lhmslpl@metrocast.net or phone 603 527-1278 to place an order.
