Default Yamaha outboard motors owner's forum?

There are 3 forums that I have found to be very helpful- one is for Ford Expeditions, one is for boating/fishing called The Hull Truth, and of course, this Winni forum.

My wife and I recently purchased another boat (sorry kids) with a Yamaha outboard on it. Since the last outboard I had was in the 80s, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a forum for Yamaha outboard owners. There's lots to learn about these new 4 stroke outboards.

I have searched the internet and have not found anything yet.

Any ideas?

Thanks

iboats.com has a Yamaha section. See: https://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...zuki-outboards.

This was the Google search I just did.

There appears to be subforums on places like THT and iBoats

Default Where are you?

Help me out here.
You bought a new boat and say "Sorry Kids"?
You bought a new boat and you now want to know what you bought?
Your location is Cape Cod and you're looking for fresh water info on Lake Winnipesaukee?
This is all confusing to me. Otherwise, happy to help, but I think Dave's in Gilford is the Yamaha authority. Did you call therm, or the local dealer wherever you really are?

Product forums are more prevalent for products that are prone to have issues. Yamaha 4 stroke outboards do not fall into that category as issues are rare. As noted Dave Ewing is the local Yamaha outboard expert.

Besides Dave’s, Winni Marine is also an authorized dealer and service center for Yamaha outboards. Having used both I can tell you first hand that both offer EXCELLENT servicing! We are lucky to have them both so close to home!

Default What horsepower?

When I was in the same situation, I found more information available if you research size/hp rather than brand. Ex: 150 hp 4 stroke outboards

As mentioned, these motors are pretty bulletproof. You will have more luck finding one-off stories rather than any trends or issues with brands.

The HullTruth is going to be your best reference site for outboards (of all brands) and boats in general.

I am on my fifth Yamaha four stroke (ranging in size from 25 to 250 horsepower) and can attest to their reliability. Just perform the required maintenance and you should be fine.

Just like any other manufacturer they have had some models that did not work out so well but, in general, I think their reputation for reliability is well earned.

I have used Dave's Motorboat Shoppe with good success. He has a very good reputation. Winnisquam Marine has a master technician on staff as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I wasn't asking for a dealer recommendation, as I really live on the Cape. I was asking about a Yamaha outboard motor owner's forum.

"sorry kids" was just a way to say that their monetary inheritance will be a little lower. But, they get the boat!

Poor Richard- I did that same search and found some valuable information. I was a bit surprised, though, that the last post was in 2010. THT is more current but the sub forums on places like THT and iBoats you mentioned will be good to check, too.

I love the ocean but I also love the lake- been coming up to Winni for 60+
years. I will probably keep bringing the Formula up to the lake but it's good to hear of Yamaha dealers you have all recommended and also the good vibes on Yammy 4 strokes.

If you search YouTube for the Yamaha outboard of your interest you may find videos about service tasks and common issues.
