Default Welcome Island

Between Pitchwood and Stonedam Island. Be careful navigating around it. Lots of rocks!

It used to be known as Wilcomb Island. The name Welcome might have developed over time, similar to Brown Bay morphing to Braun Bay.

Question For Sale: Wilcomb Island?

I see it. Looks like a reasonably speedy sailing trip depends on the prevailing breeze and perfect weather. I may have to hitch a stinkpot ride to get over there. (And steer-clear of "The Witches").

I hadn't thought of being so close behind the stinkpot's fumes. I'd have to ride in it.

Because of no wind and threatening weather, I once accepted a tow from a Jet-Ski. There is no worse ignominy! Fortunately, the tow was only a ¼-mile, and I don't think anyone ashore saw it.

BTW: Why do architects universally adopt sailing as a sport? https://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/19/s...e/19boats.html

My 1994 map shows "Welcome", and I think you're correct regarding the "morph". The Wilcombs have disappeared down the memory hole, but "Welcome Island" would help to sell the property.

My (moved) post was about the two views being discussed about this home: was it all done "right" or were there "shady" goings-on?

I don't know enough about building codes, but that sure seems like a lot of house on a small island?

Which post are you referring to? Every post from you that I see is about the politics discussion.

I'll gladly move your post back if it is just about the Welcome Island house.

No worries--it was towards the end, but I get there was a lot of political buildup! (My comment, BTW, wasn't intended to be snarky towards you, but rather to take responsibility for the move and focus my point).
