In Plymouth, up top the hill close to Walmart, http://www.spearehospital.com/dr-oug...-care-optical/ ....... scroll down and there's a clear, well focused and defined photo showing their three eye guys ; an optician, an optometrist, and an ophthalmologist.

It may be a bit farther than you want, but we have been very pleased with Concord Eye Associates, https://concordeyecenternh.com

MDs and DOs plus full dispensing. Affiliated with Concord Hospital.

Thank you. That actually is my second choice. I’m going to give winnipesaukee eye a shot first because it was recommended by a friend and the proximity. I tend to be picky with eye doctor I’m a terrible patient (but for some reason only eye doctors) so if it doesn’t work out I will try Concord.

Default I second Concord Eye

We've been with Concord Eye for more than 15 years. Great service, and were responsive when we had an emergency.

Default Laconia Eye in Wolfeboro

Continuing on with this, my current eye doctor is in Nashua and since we permanently moved to the Wolfeboro area some time ago, I'm considering changing. Anyone have any experience with Laconia Eye, especially the Wolfeboro location?

Thanks

Dr. Scott is a Wolfeboro ophthalmologist with whom you can feel comfortable. The office is located at Clarke Plaza--integral with the Wolfeboro Falls Post Office and computer repair store.

Default Winnipesaukee Eye

Stopped in about an hour ago.
Three doors to the building- none looked very inviting, from a potential medical patient's viewpoint. All locked- covered in with growth-" hours" signs covered up-had to move stuff to see if they were even open- no lights outside.

I saw lights inside and knocked on all three doors. Second time around one opened. I was greeted by a man in a mask. He asked me what I wanted- I told him I needed to see an eye doctor. He said, from behind a half-closed door, that the doctor wasn't in, and that he had someone in there with him.
No invitation to see a clerk/secretary/greeter, or any type of chance to make an appointment.

To me, this is all part of a very sensitive experience.
To say the best, I am very put-off!

Lame!

Default Call the Phone# on the door when you arrive

Call the Phone# on the door when you arrive for your appointment.

Like all/most doctors/dentists/personnel services, no walk-ins, no waiting in the office, one at a time in the building.

Make an appointment, then call from the parking lot when you arrive to be admitted when they are ready for you to enter.

Default Winnipesaukee Eye

The wife and I used Winnipesaukee eye for the first time this year. I too thought the exam was very comprehensive and I was satisfied with the glasses and improved vision. The only downside is that there is not an Ophthalmologist associated with this practice.

I'm surprised they are even allowed to do business without having a licensed Ophthalmologist on staff......

Thank you for your responses.
I understand calling from the lot once you arrive for your appointment- but I've never been there before. That's why the experience left feeling unwelcome.

Based on an earlier review from this forum, I looked the business up online, and it appeared there was each an optician, optometrist and an opthalmologist.

I'll give them a call and feel things out from there.

Thanks, again.

State regulations vary as to the scope of practice and while there is overlap, in many states it is not unusual to see opticians, optometrists, and ophthalmologists practicing on their own. Many ophthalmologists do have opticians on staff so to be able to offer glasses, etc.

You may choose to go to an all -in -one practice...but it is not reflective of the quality of the practice if it is set up differently.

An analogy not so far off. Car dealers usually sell and service cars, even those they do not sell. Many people prefer to have their cars serviced and repaired at independent shops. Often better quality and less expensive.

He was very thorough. Just not an Ophthalmologist.

You mention this as if the practice is doing something wrong or sub-par. Most Optometrist are independent and they are licensed to practice their profession. If your exam turns up something odd, you'll get a referral to a Medical Doctor.

That was not my intent. I was simply sharing what I know. I use that practice and will continue to do so.
