More showed up than expected so it was a bit of a wait. However worth the wait, it is a nice well planned facility. A Sun reporter was there so probably a story next week.

Learned a lot
I was impressed by the environmental and energy conservation measures taken in the design and construction of the building. Capt. Dunleavy himself led our tour, and Lt. Crystal McLain, who was project manager gave us a lot of background information while we were waiting for the group ahead of us to finish up. I know there are many who spoke about high cost, but I absolutely think we got our moneys worth. Note that this is not funded by general taxation money. Capt. Dunleavy pointed out that the Navigation Safety Fund comes from boat registration fees. If you don't register a boat, none of your money goes to the MP, or the Navigation Safety Fund or the new HQ.

I am quite disappointed they did not put in a "Communications Room" for local dispatch, coordination with local Fire/Rescue and monitoring of VHF (Ch 16/9). Told ALL dispatch is now controlled by State Police in Concord.
Such a shame that the biggest Lake in Region, and most highly populated by boats doesn't have anyone monitoring VHF other than a few of their patrol boats (which they cannot hear when underway). I miss Mighty-Mo !! .
