How about seeing those computer "home pages" of the lake? This picture has been mine for over two years! My husband Art in the water right off of our dock!

Default Here's Mine

This was a spectacular sunset I captured in 2004 when the sun set just as the clouds began to break after several days of rain. No filters or work with photoshop, just a very basic Sony point and shoot digital camera. Looking north towards Moultonborough, Sandwich range in the background and the Ossipee range to the right.

Default Wolfeboro Town Docks

Here's my favorite desktop background image. I snapped this photo at the Wolfeboro Town Docks around 8 AM one foggy Sunday morning in mid-September several years ago. Not my boat, BTW, but it makes a lovely desktop background. I used an inexpensive, 5mp digital point & shoot camera.

One of the better threads on the forum in a while! Here are my slices of this heaven that I rotate on my desktop. All original shots, no post-processing involved.

First taken November 15th, 2012. We had a week or so where every sunset was like this.

Second and third, my favorite time of day, the early morning calm of a summer day.

Last, the mist as the heat leaves the water late in the summer.

Install Classic Shell or something similar (there are several). You can download it for free here. It adds back the Start button and normal menus to Windows 8 and lets you startup in your desktop, instead of Metro. I use Windows 8 with Classic Shell and it works like Windows 7.

Default Island on a lake on an island on a lake on an island

This has been my desktop background recently. I took this photo from my table at breakfast last June using my phone. Anyone know where it is?

Ya know...some of these shots are absolutely timeless. Kids on a dock? That could have been me decades ago. That's what I love about this lake. So many great memories, so many generations. The feeling of returning home (even if you don't live here year-round)

Yep. Delicious Black Tilapia and rice that morning.

I borrowed someone else's great photo of Sunset Lake and rotate that with my daughter driving the Formula at night when she could barely see over the dash. That one's my favourite but it's oriented vertically and it doesn't fit on the screen properly.

I took this one of Opechee Bay in late November of 2010 from the parking lot of "O's" Restaurant in Laconia.

Just a few of mine...

Pic1 There are many beautiful spots on the lake, but I have to admit that I got a million dollar view.

Pic2 Summer time late afternoon cruise across the broads.

Pic3 Jefferson Notch Rd after a good dumping of snow

Pics 4&5, Jericho Mountain's new warming hut, and the view from inside. Awesome place to get off the trail, stoke up the wood stove and warm up a bit.

The pics are absolutely beautiful !!! I am enjoying each and every one. I also would like to share, but cannot figure out how to do it. When I send a photo via an email, I go to My Pictures and select, open and send. I do the same on Facebook with success. But here it asks for a "url". If somebody has the patience to explain how to post a photo, I would very much appreciate it. I have tried, no luck. But.......fabulous photos everyone. wow !!! thank you.

Posting a picture here is pretty easy. Proceed as you would to make a post. Type in the text you want as usual.

NOW scroll down below the text box and find "Manage Attachments". Push the button. A box will appear up to the left. Inside the top of the box is a button entitled "Browse". Click that and it should take you to the place on your computer where you keep your pictures. It may show you "Folders", or maybe "Thumbnails" of your collection. The most recent pictures should be at the bottom. Right click on the picture you want and Preview..good idea because the thumbnails are pretty small. When you decide if that's the correct picture, right click on the picture and "Select". The picture file number and location will show up in the earlier box to the left of the "Browse" button.

Now click "Upload". Then Wait. It may upload in a few seconds ..or it may take a minute or two. Patience here. When it's done uploading, the ID of the picture will show up again, BUT.. down and to the left a little with a little color icon next to it.

NOW look for the "Submit Reply"" button. It may be partially hidden underneath the lefthand box. If you left click OUTSIDE the lefthand box, it will disappear and expose the "Submit Reply" button. Click "Submit Reply".

That should do it. NB

PS: If you like the way that worked and want to ADD another picture to the finished and displayed post, just click EDIT as usual and do the whole procedure again with a new picture.

PPS: I like to go to where my pictures are on the computer...BEFORE I write my post, just to bring the pictures "To The Top" as it were. I think it helps the upload program find the pictures easier.

PPPS: With computers, nothing is absolute.

I was staying with one of your neigbors back in 2000. There was quite the evening storm with lighting and torential rain! That morning when the sun rise in back of Treasure Island, I got the same effect and I am looking for the picture. In fact my friend has a copy displayed in her cottage the last I knew. Since then I always enjoy my coffee with the sun rising over Alton.

Lots of simply amazing pictures in this thread. This place is absolutely beautiful when it comes right down to it. No place else I'd rather be.

This is my desktop on the home computer. It is kinda old so I should probably take a better one. Taken in Melvin Village...

The first photo I posted was actually a sunrise. I use pics from the lake often for my desk top, from every season. I use this one when I want to remind myself that sometimes it's good to change your perspective on things, to be in the moment and appreciate what is right in front of you.

Thank you all for these incredible photos of one of the best places on this earth! I'm loving all the snow we are getting right now but can't wait to be back on the island.

Default Here are three of mine:

First: the thought of spring to come, on a small part of the Ossipees.

Second: early morning on Berry Bay of the Ossipees:

And last: the Big Mountain in her winter glory:

Wow, this is a great thread. I am sitting here in my office 3 days after the "BIG SNOW" in Connecticut. These pictures sure have made my day. Here's mine from Blueberry Island, taken by my friend Andrew last summer!

Default Winnigal is right

These pictures help us make it through the winter, but also makes us pray for Ice Out so we can return to the lake. Keep the posting and pics coming!

Default Inspiring photos...

I think we should make a Winni Dot Com calendar from these original photos and sell it at our next Forum Fest....
