Default NHMS Sunday

Hi all,

Long time reader of these boards, and first time poster. I've been spending time in the Lakes Region for nearly 40 years and enjoy catching up on what's going on in the area, especially as yearly vacations approach.

I'm asking for a little local knowledge as far as driving to this year's Sprint Cup race at NHMS in Loudon this coming Sunday. I will be staying in Laconia for the weekend and figure I'll head straight down Route 106 to the track. I do plan on tailgating well before the race, which starts at 1:00.

Does anyone have experience with taking this route? If so, what time do you regularly leave? I'm assuming I'll find a lot north of the track, for an easy exit back to Laconia where I'm staying. Does anyone have a favorite lot, or any other tips for getting in and out of the track?

I've been a Patriots season ticket holder for years, so I'm assuming it will be a similar traffic situation. I just figured it might be a little less traffic if I was heading north after the race instead of back towards 93, where the majority of the crowd will be headed.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

After parking in both the North and South lots my best advice is to not park in the lots. They are both miserable to get out of and I found the North lot no easier to get out of than the South lot (disclaimer: I have not parked in either lot for 12 years or so). I always tried to find pay parking outside of the main lots. Then one year I stumbled into a parking pass for a field across the street from the track and up the hill and have been parking there ever since.

A better idea would be to send me your ticket and let me worry about the traffic.

By far the best way to enter/exit is from the north.Get there early, like 8:00 and head into the north gate.It does however matter where in the stands you will be sitting as its a 1/2 mile to the other end.I like parking by the reserved rv trackside north entrance. But that's where I'd be entering.Pretty easy exit out of the north gate from there.

What time will the race end? Want to avoid traffic through that area on my way home from Winni.

Pretty sure the race ends sometime before 5. If you head into there sometime 9am or before it isn't bad at all, I live less than 10 minutes from the track on the north side. We usually plan on going to the beach that day but I may be on Winni instead this year

Default sign at the Alton Circle says:

Traffic alert. Expect heavy traffic from 4PM to 8PM
