Default Trivia?? Question #3

Tell me when to Stop

Okay -- Without grabing your Nav Charts to get this answer ....... search your brain & test your navigational knowledge .........

Many of the FL's around the Lake have a companion (or associated) Red Top/ Black Top Spar. For example FL#1 / Black top with it .......

Question is ..... How many FL's do NOT have a companion ??

Don't cheat and grab your Bizer chart!!

The flashing light bouys in the Weirs Channel do not have companion bouys. Make that two. Hole in the wall flashing light. Make that three. can't recall the fourth one I have seen. I can count 4.

Well -- to be honest, I wasn't counting the Wiers Channel as they weren't numbered but as I did not clarify, I'll accept it.

So Far --
Big Island
Parker Island
Nipple Rock/ Round Island
Weirs Channel (Left & Right)
Hole in the Wall
FL#6 Becky's Garden
Echo Point

There's a Lot more

I think there's one near Wolfeboro, and duh, I just remembered the one in Robert's Cove (where I spent Summers as a kid). Cannot believe I forgot that one, it marked our paddling/rowing area limit.

Misty -- FL#6 is the one near Becky's (already spoken for)
FL#25, West end of RattleSnake has a Black Top companion
Parker Island -- already spoken for

Misty Blue scores "0"

Island Al --- FL# 50 has a Black Top companion (sorry)
One could argue that FL#51 does too (but I won't)

Island Al Scores "2"

DaveR -- Nice catch on Roberts Cove, thought for sure that one would be missed -- and stop rackin your brain near Wolfeboro ('taint none there)

Default markers

I like these questions makes one think and recall older times. Used to be off Echo Point there was a red marker and then a white light marker. I think they got smart and replaced the white light marker and put in a red light marker and removed the red marker altogether. Seems to me in the fall or late sept the red marker was always laying down anyway. Now the question comes to mind just when did they do that? I don't know!

Default red marker

The red marker left behind when the flashing light is removed is simply connected to the line for the flashing light, so that in the spring, the MP can find the location easier. Look at it as a location marker, not really a navigational aid.

Okay -- seems this thread is losing steam so here's the answers

Those mentioned are:

Big Island (Paugus)
Parker Island
Nipple Rock/ Round Island
Weirs Channel (Left & Right)
Hole in the Wall
FL#6 Becky's Garden
Echo Point (Alton)
FL#50 & 52 (Greens Basin Area)

Those Missed:

Keniston Island FL#40 (Wolfeboro)
Small's Cove FL#75 (West Alton Marine)
and JRC You'll hate yourself for this - If you got to Big Island in Paugus, you went right by FL#82 Naswa shoreline past the NWZ

Yes Phantom,

I should have remembered 82 and 75, both in my recent stompimg grounds. Keniston is not where I go that often.

The Small's cove one didn't stick out because there are a bunch of markers there for the channel.
