Default Laconia Local Eatery

There is an old thread, but we have eaten at the Local a few times recently and enjoyed it immensely.

The Local is in the old railroad station in Laconia and uses local products and frequently changing menu. The food is interesting, the servers are knowledgeable and helpful. The price point is reasonable given the food quality and there are lots of choices given the food quality and relatively small space.

Not for everyone ( the portions are on the small end) but another choice for a nice evening out. And did I mention it is LOCAL.

Please don't be lost at the "small portions" comment.

I was trying to give a feel for the price vs portion. If fresh, creative food is appealing, please give it a try. I guess a better way of putting it is on a dollar per ounce of food it is closer to Canoe and Corner House than to the VK or George's. And I love the latter too, so it is not a negative comment about either. Just trying to be informational. H'mmmm now I need some blueberry pancakes at the VK.

Post High Quality

The quality of the food at Local Eatery is (IMHO) the best in the area. I don't recall ever leaving hungry; the portions are reasonable, but not huge. They had a duck and pasta dish a month or so ago that was more food than I could finish.

There are a number of restaurants in the lakes region with relatively small menus and little change. We find it difficult to patronize them frequently as the menu gets boring unless there is an overwhelming favorite dish. Local Eatery has a rotating menu which keeps the selection fresh.

As you can probably tell, it is our favorite restaurant in the area when we are going higher end.

Exactly. On the old Local thread, someone complained that when he went back his favorite dish was off the menu. Darn rotating menus.:
