Forklift crushes boat at Laconia marina

September 03. 2018 12:12AM

LACONIA - State safety officials are investigating a forklift accident at a marina, police said.

The forklift, weighing about 55,000 pounds, fell onto a boat about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Paugus Bay Marina, Laconia police said.

There were no injuries.

Investigators said a mechanical failure appeared to be the cause of the accident, police said. State agencies and a crane company from Boston are assisting with the investigation.

These two news sources are clear the forklift fell into the water, in the process crushing the boat.

Default Great Reporting!

From the Concord Monitor:

"A forklift needed a lift itself this weekend after it took a plunge into the Weirs channel and capsized on top of a boat at a Laconia marina, according to city police."

They moved Paugus Bay Marina? Hmmm..........

Thought the same thing

Winni On Winni (AKA: Channel) forks were running fine when I was there yesterday during that time. Me thinks the reporter is calling the Paugus -> Oppeeche channel, Weirs Channel.
