Default Winni makes Offshore Magazine

Aprils issue of "Offshore" magazine has a beautiful eight page article with lots of color pictures of the lake.

Do readers of Offshore Magazine realize that no part of Lake Winnipesaukee is Offshore?

Funny how the name of the magazine and the name of the boat type describes the #1 reason why they should not be on Winni.

Unhappy

Bear Lover

How's about restricting that subject to one thread, and leaving the rest of us a few threads that we can enjoy without having to put up with the nasty bickering between the pro and anti performance boat crowd that's going on in the speed limit thread?

Default Speed Limit Closed

The Speed Limit thread was just CLOSED - halleluiah.

Offshore is a word much like Kleenex, generic and relates to a product - not always used to mean the Kleenex brand name, but all related products - just like Offshore, it's generic.

Let's just enjoy the 8 page write up for what it is. Nice to see our beloved Winni get some nice press.

OK, all well and good.

But the very next post says...

Anyway, Silver Duck does have a point. There are worse possibilities than Winnipesaukee's being featured in Offshore magazine.

I caught the article as soon as it came and mentioned it. I was psyched to see it.

Still haven't read it though. I like to read the periodicals in order, and I haven't finished up March yet!

What part of Lake Winnipesaukee is ON SHORE?

I've read Offshore magazine on and off for many years and watched them expand their coverage. It was a newsletter long before it evolved into a slick magazine. It was geared more to ocean boating than it was to inland boating. They still had space for fresh water and general boating topics. I remember them mentioning Lake Winnipesaukee numerous times over the years.

Somewhere I read that the founder of Offshore Magazine was experienced with boating on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Bear Lover,

I have subscribed to and enjoyed Offshore for years. This is the FIRST time I can remember them doing a piece on anything having to do with fresh water. And that's why I was so excited about the well written article.

If you care to peruse the publication, you will find that (as previously stated), Offshore really has nothing to do with go fast boats. Sometimes it doesn't pay to jump to confusions.

Having said that, it's not the speed that I find offensive about go fasts, it's the NOISE. Many moons ago I had a motorcyle with extremely loud straight pipes. I'm glad I got that out of my system quickly. Go fast folks, it really is all about the noise.

Peter

I have watched "Port o' Call" NESN, sponsored by Offshore Boating magazine, numerous times and have yet to see a Go Fast boat featured. All episodes have featured family cruisers, many the size of ones we see here on Winnipesaukee. I look forward to seeing the "Winni" episode.
