Need a slip. Help!

Hello folks:

I am the proud owner of a 1995 22 foot Grady White Sea Farer! My problem is where to dock it this summer. I have an off water house in Wolfeboro. Any ideas or advice? How about my choice of a boat? I love to fish so I thought it would work well!

Be sure to check the classifieds on this site. That's how I found a slip several years ago.

Dear Fellow Grady Owner,

Contact the Wolfeboro Corinthian Yacht Club 569-1234 ask for Darrell tell him Ken S. sent you. You can "Dry Sail" (they keep your boat on the trailer at the waterfront and put it in when you want to use it, you are guaranteed of a slip when you need it when you are out for the day and need to get back). You can do this for one year as a non-member and then must join the club to continue. Some benfits of the club are social events, someone to watch over you boat when you are not there and discounts on gas, repairs and storage. I have a 2001 Grady White Tournament 223 and I did the same thing - I became a member after one year. I love it. I continue to dry sail as the boat is better protected in its trailer, not being subject to the stresses of being docked during bad weather. Cost is about 1/2 what it would cost to rent a slip in Wolfeboro.

PS: Grady's are the best boats on the Lake - they can handle any conditions it throws at you. The 22' hull is a perfect size - congrats!

Thanks for your input. I wound up getting a slip last week at Goodhue, Hawkins. Certainly not cheap, but the people and facilities are great. Think spring!

I'm not sure if Goodhue accomodates sail boats. My guess is that it does, given its location on Wolfeboro Bay. I waited about a year on their waiting list. However, there seems to be availability each spring given that their prices are somewhat on the high side. Although, as I stated in a previous post, the facilities are good and the people are nice. You get what you pay for as they say.

I would check with West Alton Marina at 603-875-7788 and ask for Diedre or Brian. They may have some slips for you. I know that there was going to be a little bit of movement this year and it is a WONDERFUL marina!!!! Plus, it is a short ride to Wolfeboro.

Thanks Wendy. I have heard only good things about them too. We checked with them this week and unfortunately they say they don't accept sailboats due to the depth of the channel in the fall. We just need 2 feet.

Wolfeboro Corinthian Yacht Club has moorings for sailboats and I believe they have some openings. Contact Darrell at 603-569-1234.

If channel depth is the only reason they do not accept you & you only need 2 feet then why wouldn't they accept you. They must have at least 2 feet or more otherwise none of the renters would get in and out. I don't know of any stern drives that draft less than 2 feet. Most are 33'' to 36", right around 3 feet.

it probably has more to do with navigating the channel and the wind gusts in there.

It can be tough at times.... but the marina is worth it!!
