Default Safety: Fire Dept. Exercises at Paugus Bay

Safe Boating week begins on May 21. The Lakes Region Sail & Power Squadron will begin performing free vehicle safety exams at a variety of different locations throughout the Lakes Region (sites and times to be posted soon).

On May 21 at the Paugus Bay Marina, the examiners will be available throughout the day to examine boats. ALSO: the Laconia Fire Department will be on hand from 2pm to 6pm at Paugus Bay Marina to demonstrate how to safely extinquish fires. Then (barring rain) the Fire Department will move over to the Expo Center at 7pm to demonstrate how to use flares properly. Chief Ken Ericson will be on hand to answer questions and participate in the events.

This will be a terrific day. Go try your hand at extinguishing a fire safely and surely before you really need to! Also, if you have flares that have expired, please bring them to be used as part of the exhibition.

Keep in mind that when your boat receives a certificate from the Power Squadron you can get discounts from BoatUS, West Marine and from your boat insurance carrier.

See you there!
