Default Groundhog Day 2012

The local groundhog, Moultonborough Moe, did not see his shadow this morning. He stayed out of his hole long enough to wander down to some open water in the lake and take a drink. According to legend, this means the winter of 2012 is over. Tonight, the traditional celebration will take place, that is, watching Bill Murray in Groundhog day, again.

Pa.’s Punxsutawney Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter but at this rate that’s not bad.

Default Late start, late end!

With this late start and lack of snow I wouldn’t be surprised to see an abnormally wet spring and summer. One way or another we NEED the moisture to keep the lakes and water table up. Remember the last time we didn’t get a lot of moisture during the winter and spring and we were in a bad drought? Boats couldn’t get to their docks, whole marinas had limited use, and many private docks were left high and dry. Prop repair shops had a field day.
