Default Gunstock ZIP line!

Last Sunday one of my Lake Brothers and I showed up at Gunstock to try out the ZIP line. 'Quite a morning.

Here is the low down...

We started in a tent and were issued a backpack with a cable attachment and put on a harness. With a bit of instruction we were ready to take on the Bunny slope! (It is where the tubes used to run, I think).

It is a little bit of a warm up for what is to come.

From there it's the quad chair to the top. We went down three seperate lines of different lengths and slopes until we ended up back at the lodge.

Our group was about eight and we had two very fun who knew (and I think, enjoy) their jobs.

The whole deal took about two and a half hours with probably only four or five minutes actually "Zipp'en". What a morning!

When I think about the infrastructure, the expensive equipment and the high guide to rider ratio I think that we got a lot for our 65 bucks, each.

They say that it will be open all winter and advise reservations.

Default Boone NC

Up near Boone NC, they claim it is the longest zip line in North America. A good 10 minutes on one line. I checked it out and it was closed. I recall the admission was a lot less than Gunstock.

I bet they'll do quite well on this. When we did the Aerial Treetops course this past summer, there was a good, constant flow of people -- and that cost $45 bucks a pop. Also -- consider how long four or five minutes of actual zipping would be. The longest one on the Aerial Treetops (and i believe there are six total) was about 10-15 seconds -- and that's a long zip). So you're looking at something 16-20x as long. Plus, the view. Personally, I will be doing it in the spring, if not in January. Thinking it might be a cool option when I pass through after delivering daughter back to school in Montreal in January.

I totally agree. We are vacationing in Kona Hawaii with our 3 kids and the average price for zip-lining is $159-189 per person. So $65 is a great deal, plus it offers great mountain and lake views of Winnipesaukee...
