So is it true that Mr Barrett did in fact raise the funds for the new building so as not to hit the people of NH with an added tax burden?? Was this money placed in the General fund and then raided??

Thanks;

Dan
Mostly correct. The budget in question was in 2011 (Item 79 in the budget trailer bill, HB2). John Lynch was the Governor, not our current governor.

In about 2011 Speaker of the House Bill O'Brien and his fellow Republican state representative supporters were able to lower the fee for registering a car by about $30/ 2-year registration period. As a result of the decrease in this funding, the NH Dept of Transportation was not able to maintain their 750-miles of un-numbered state local roads, all across the state, which included the one mile long Barnard Ridge Rd, and the 4-mile long Meredith Neck Rd, both in Meredith. So, for about three years, from 2012 to October-2015, both roads were in miserable, rough, mega potholed, worn out shape courtesy of Speaker of the House Bill O'Brien and his supporting Republican state reps.

Let me tell you, that sure enough was a no-good Republican road! Dat dere road was nuth'n but potholes ...... I tell's ya!

Concord Monitor, August 28, 2016: "Katy Burns: Buh-bye, Bill O'Brien" ...... Republican Majority Caucus unpaid $7800 office rent for Concord office .....

Considering what happened with the funding for the new MP-HQ building ..... it's very very good this new state building is almost completed, and will soon be occupied, and in use for what could be the next hundred years. It's looks to be a very attractive and functional new home for the NH Marine Patrol. Dave Barrett had a super plan!

Such a great looking building, plus you save five dollars at the walk-in window compared to what you pay to register your boat at your local town hall, or marina, plus 100% of the registration money goes to the State of NH, as opposed to 50%-town and 50%-state. No five dollar service fee at the MP-HQ walk-in window.

Default Grand opening

I understand the ribbon cutting/dedication is Tuesday, Nov 29. Glendale will bed swarming with State Police, locals and County. Drive carefully. The car you cut off may be a cop. Or worse, a reporter, and you'll be on the PM news.

Nevertheless, this honorarium to Safety Services Director Dave Barrett has been a long time coming. It will serve all of the Lakes Region, and it will benefit us as well as the MP. We should all be proud of our law enforcement folks. BZ. Fly the BZ flags on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Default See Post #104

It was posted here on 11/18. (#104 "Grand Opening") I'd guess there were 100 people there. Gov. Hassan spoke, but I don't know if her schedule is publicly broadcast for security purposes.

'Seems Public Safety buildings should be simpler designs, especially as taxpayers are footing the bill.

Here's most of Miami-Dade County P.D.'s Taj Mahal, built in 1989:

Too "out-there" for Hollywood, CSI-Miami borrowed the more modest Hawthorne California PD Building for its screen sets instead!

Yes, the sign was altered for the TV show:

Default Lighting

Now that the monument to wasteful government spending is complete. Wondering if the 20 or so outside lights will ever be turned off? Glendale bay lit up like a Christmas tree 24/7 365.
Someone please give me a good reason for this
