Northern lights

As a fitting end to the FFII day we sat on the dock and were treated to a display of the Northern Lights. At first it just looked like some clouds were being illuminated by stray light. But later the sky got brighter than any reflected cloud could ever be. There were some bands and some "geysers" of light though not much color. The sunspot responsible for this activity is just now rotating to face Earth and is predicted to keep flaring away. So look north, and up, this week !

Showed my 11 yr old twins the Northern Lights for the first time Sat Night around midnight - after that wild OSU/Texas game! Mostly just a bright, slightly greenish glow from the north. Beautiful night for the stars too.

Glad you explained the brightness that night. I didn't think to look at northern sky. I just thought the neighbors were having some fun.

Did anyone else see the Northern Lights this past Saturday night?
R-Guy and sons noticed it around 11:00 pm and report that it was very impressive.

Space Weather says we are in for more Northern Lights, though the weather may not cooperate.

I did see them Sat, sort of a double horizontal band after a while. Not as spectacular as recent years, but definitely noticeable. Look for them tonight if weather cooperates. Major sun activity recently likely to give a good show.

I believe the condition is known as QIB (quilt induced blindness). Too much time spent gazing upon the lovely quilt has blinded you to your surroundings ! Luckily for you this is a recogized illness and much R&D has already gone into it's cure. First thing to do is to stop gazing at the quilt. As we all know this is not an easy task. Don't be ashamed if you can't go it alone, reach out for help. Lucky for you "Mee" has formed a QA (quilting anonymous) group right here on the Lake. In case you can't stop the primary cause of QIB (staring), then her support group is standing by to step in and aid you. First they will intervene and remove the quilt, then substitute a patch from a less magnificent quilt. You use the patch to lessen your withdrawal symptoms until you are again fully aware of your immediate surroundings. At that time a qualified ophthalmologist/psychologist will re-examine you for further treatment. Sadly not everyone can be said to fully cured and many will revert back to their QIB habit should a quilt of high enough quality fall into their possession. Should this tragic fate befall you, you may rest assured that the QA group will find a suitable home for that object of your obsession. Don't suffer needlessly, help is but a short boat ride away

I think it's best if I try to combat this QIB on my own. It is reassuring to know that Mee and QA is around if I need them!
