Cheap boat fire extinguisher weighing
Don't know how many of you on the forum would have an interest in this, but since I register my boat commercially, I have to take my fire extinguisher out of my engine compartment each year to have it weighed and inspected.
I just wanted to share that Hampshire Fire Protection in Manchester (near the airport) does the inspection for $5. So if you are from "down south," it's easy to get done before coming up here. They will also make arrangements to do it here in the Lakes Region when they are conducting service calls at local businesses. I was previously paying $30 each year for this and it literally is a 2 minute job. I'm thrilled with the flexibility of these folks and have used them for several years. So I thought I would share in case anyone else would like to know about it. Whether you have to or not, it's a good idea to have that checked out. |

Good news
That's good to hear, especially about them doing local service. Of course, I could drop it off Monday a.m. and bring it back Friday myself. That would probably mean I'd have to plan a long weekend two weeks in a row. Hmmm...
I understand that, years ago, you could do this for free at a local fire station. I gather that is no longer the situation. Any body know? My "new" boat has built in FE, so I'm certainly interested in more info. I know the previous owner didn't do it, or, at least, there's no tag. |
