DUI driver kills motorcyclist.
http://www.wmur.com/news/24054132/detail.html
Something really needs to be done to rectify the constant news stories of DUI drivers getting back behind the wheel of a vehicle and being able to kill people. You hear these stories all too often in this country. Man/woman kills someone after having 2,3,4,5,6,7,8....DUI convictions. Still on the road. Still driving. Just one DUI is too many. I tell you if I was that husband after hearing this guy had just been stopped the day before for a DUI and let go, then killing my wife, and seriously injuring another rider...... And then only a $30,000 bail. He could be out and driving again today. Seriously this should have been a Million Dollar bail. Things need to change. I am now going to be writing my letter to my State Reps. Everyone should be doing the same, as this could have been someone you know or love. I hope this guy, and people like him, gets put away for......ever. If you know what I mean. |

I checked it again when you said $100K. You're right, but unless I'm crazy, this a.m. it said $30K.

Muddle...
1) This morning's Union Leader had the amount at "$30,000 cash bail".
2) When this arrives at the trial stage between the Prosecuting- and Defense- lawyers...remember... The Truth... Quote:

No bail
He will be out and re-offend regardless of bail amount. This character does not deserve bail.
My condolences to the poor husband |

Makes No Sense!
Less than 12 hours after he's arrested for DWI, he's on the road again still drunk from before and crashes into a motorcycle charity ride killing a rider on one of the motorcycles and seriously injuring another.
Why wasn't this guy held until he sobered up from the earlier DWI?? He was also arrested in 2005 for DWI!! This guy better go away for a LOOONG time! Dan |

Yeah the link does say $100K. I hadn't even read the whole article. My eyeballs were turning red and my blood pressure was making vision blurred. But I know I heard Erin say $30K bail on the morning news. Either way, I hope some prison detainee has already made him his bunk buddy wife by now.

Hi Dan, The reason why all this occurs is simple. The guy is very likely a hard core alcoholic. Alcoholics have no sense of right and wrong when it comes to driving. When drunk, they are single minded of purpose which is to drive from point to point. Multiple arrests for DUI? How about the times they DO NOT get caught. Take away their license? So what? They don't need it to drive a vehicle. Get arrested and ordered to appear? Okay, he drives to the court house! It's really time to take a hard stand NOW on repeat drunk drivers and since arrests and fines don't deter them, incarcerate them until they can beat the addiction and begin to take responsibility for their actions.

Actually, the bartender gets punished more in our current society than the drunk. That's because it's never the drunk's fault, of course.

So True
TnT- The bartender and establishment owner share much too high of a burden compared to the drunk driver.

Watching the news today, and reading this forum, I see I was not the only one miffed about this...
Hopefully the letters people sent in to their Reps. will have an effect on a stupidly done rule regarding the 30 day license removal, at least. I hope we keep pressure on for this change. |

Why is NH only a Capital-Murder Capital-Punishment state? This is atrocious.
