Default Kona Trail

Anyone know if there will be acess to the Kona loop from the trail that runs down the neck this year. Rumor was there was a property owner closing his land that would eliminate the loop.

Default Morrill Drive Closed

Permission to use Morrill Drive and the shared driveway was withdrawn, due to riders speeding and ignoring stop signs. The club is looking for a reroute, but it probably won't happen this year. Here's how it will look on the 2018 trail map.

Will the club still be able to groom the loop trail? Any ideas how to get from the Kona area to the other section of the neck trail?

Still looking at options. Hope to groom there, at least occasionally.

The best way around the shutdown (once the ice is safe) is to cross over the Neck Road to Moultonborough Bay at Smith Cove, then head north to the powerline trail (15), putting you back on the neck trail.

Default Kona Loop Trail

Will the gate be opened at the Kona entrance off of Kings Court Road to get to the Loop Trail and Far Echo area? Any luck on a reroute of Merrill Road?

The new club map shows that trail is only closed on the Morril Drive owners property. I live (and acess) just off the trail near Morril Drive, I walked the trails yesterday only to find that there is a snow fence closing off the trail at the loop intersection. Now I can't acess the loop or the Neck Trail.

Default Trails to Nowhere

Lakegeezer spent countless hours trying to find a reroute for the Morrill Drive connector, with no success. We will keep trying, but I have been warning people that in most cases, we are down to our last trail option. If we lose a trail, there are often zero options.

Unfortunately, I believe that at some point we will have so many "trails to nowhere" that snowmobiling may die in Central NH. The Sandwich to White Lake power trail is gone. Castle (171) lot to Wolfeboro is closed. We have a trail on a property that has been subdivided, once those lots sell, who knows. The Chase property across from All Day Convenience Store at Kanasatka is for sale (NH Corridor 15 traverses that) and has been subdivided.

Please note that the "loop" has been closed for several years. It was closed by NH Forestry. The main trail still goes through, there is just no loop any longer.

Anyone know if any progress has been made on an alternative route to connect to the Kona trail?

I don't think much headway has been made there. I have also heard that there maybe a couple closures to deal with this year in other spots. If you haven't read up on the issue with the logging companies and Sunnunu's veto, that's worth a read. Logging companies are threatening to close their land in response which would cripple the system. Hopefully it can be worked out.
