Default Snake Eyes - Wow again!

During my morning coffee, I always check out the Snake Eyes camera. This morning's image is so beautiful I saved it! Island Girl provides us with such beautiful photographs - even when she's not holding a camera! For those of you who haven't checked out Snake Eyes, I encourage you to do so, and to make it part of your day - it's yet another way to have a beautiful Winnipesaukee day - even when you're not here!!!

Click here for the current image!

Now if somebody can teach me how to attach the image I saved this morning, I'll happily share it here! Just not computer saavy enough to figure out how to post it into a thread! Any guidance??

You're right, Pepper! I was actually looking at this morning's 7:50 A.M. Snake Eyes photo in one window when your post arrived in another window. The lake is certainly beautiful this morning!

Thumbs up IG, Give Yourself A Lttle Pat On The back!

I too have become a regular visitor, now that I can’t just look out the window! Totally missing being there in person.
Bravo IG! It will be a real treat to see the lake from this vantage point as the water stiffens up.

Same here, it's the first thing I check out in the morning everyday. I love how she has the page that shares all the webcams at once. Thanks to all that have shared their webcams with us, it's like being on the lake everyday thanks to you all.

Pepper,

upthesaukee attached a Snake Eyes pictures in his 10/12/04 post in the "Tuesday's Fierce Wind" thread. He should be able to tell you how it's done.

OK - great idea!

Hey Upthesaukee!!!!!!!!!! Can you either post instructions here, or e-mail me with the information on how to include the image in a post?????

I was going to try a private message or e-mail through the website, but those options were not available for Upthesaukee - so I'm hoping he'll read this thread and help me out.

Fiddlesticks! Now I really feel inept!

OK, the challenge is now officially on - I've just gotta figure out how to do that so, I'll be and but I will figure it out somehow.

Default Only because my delicate constitution enjoys WP...

1 - Having selected a picture, right click on it

2 - Scroll to the bottom of the pop-up and Select properties - click on it.

3 - You will then see another pop-up.
Look for Address: and URL in brakets below it off to the left.
To the right you will see the URL address for your picture (image).
Click on that address several times, until it is all selected - hightlighted.
Then, do the Right Click thing again and in the pop-up
select Copy and click OK.
In your post, type [img]
Next, right click your mouse and select paste
Then, type [/img]
If you click on the Preview Changes below and next to Save Changes, you should be able to see your picture (image).

NOTE: Try this on the picture at the bottom of this post.

NOTE: This is the url address for the picture, image, I posted

http://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopo...1-1158_IMG.JPG

4 - Simply use image tags before and after the url address

NOTE: Beginning tag = [img] and ending tag = [/img]

5 - Putting it all together, only using upper case bracket for purpose of displaying code and not picture
{url}http://www.rattlesnakecam.com/IslandCam_00003.jpg{/url}

Hope this helps...

P.S. - Scoll down to the end of the thread to view the box below and click on vB code to learn more...

P.P.S.- You may click on it below, as well...

Unhappy

Dadblammit, and a few other colorful exclamations. Either my Windows XP uses different rules, or I'm an idiot. Both are entirely possible! Either way, my attempts to replicate your seemingly simple proceedure are not working. Smoke is now coming out of my ears. My dachshund is hiding under the afghan, and the cat has headed for the hills. Thank God I'm leaving for a cruise on Sunday morning, apparently I need a vacation really badly!

This is the vB code page section for images.

Look at Example Usage

Do as it does, only leave out the (Not linked) part and your code will do this:

The part I'm having trouble with is actually trying to follow your instructions after "right click" I can see properties, but cannot copy as you suggest. What in tarnation am I doing wrong? Perhaps we should take this conversation outside of the forum - would you e-mail me? I tried to email you but you have that option disabled, so perhaps you'll click on my name and send an e-mail to me instead??

Default ....or how about this

- right click on any photo on the internet
- ckick on properties
- highlight what it says after address URL
- simultaneously hit 'control' and the letter 'C' (for copy) (you have saved the url for the photo on your clipboard)
- go to the 'reply to post' or 'start new post' screen
- place cursor in white box where you write your message
- click on the 'insert image' box just above that is yellow with mountains
- a user box pops up
- hit delete to get rid of whatever is already in the user prompt box
- place cursor in user prompt box
- hit 'control' and the letter 'v' (for velcro) simultaneously
- and there you go...!!!!

pictured above...one of WP's illustrious staff ....Hope this helps and Happy Cruising!

And in a perfect world, the link will actually function, but alas, it probably will not. No matter, I'll be there in a week anyway, and won't care about Vb codes or vB codes or whatever the heck they are!

Gee, I thought my right click on the S. I. Cam pic, click on save picture as and saving it to a folder in my documents was easy. I then did my post, and down below this area, where it says manage attachments, I clicked there, browsed to get the picture from the folder, uploaded picture, and it was there.

Whatever works, I guess.

Default Snake Eyes

Thanks for all the nice comments about the webcam.

To A Boston Broad:
It is hoped that it will operate in the cold weather. The enclosure is supposed to have a heater, but I did not have time to figure out how to get it to work. The new WeirsCam will be a much better image than Snake Eyes. I will want to upgrade to a new camera next year.

Snake Eyes was recently moved a little higher so that snow will not obscure the view. The webcam will be moved back in the spring.

I also am having an image upload problem. I will try out the suggestions I have been given as soon as I can get to the cam safely.

I am seeing the images are darker now that the sun is lower in the sky. I imagine the winter pictures will not be as bright as the summer images. This will be the first winter that there is a webcam to monitor the progress of ice-in and ice-out in the broads. I have been wanting that since we came to Rattlesnake Island.

Thanks all for your encouragement and tell all your friends about Snake Eyes.

Old view (mountains obscured by fog) and new view

Default Small Steps are good steps

I. G. --- Snake Eyes has provided so many of us with great views of the lake, both from a safety standpoint and just a beauty standpoint. I think that the output has been fantastic for a first time "cam operator", and the little changes are good. Nothing drastic, just a "little tweeking". And the previous post of the images above this post, the new higher image shot sure shows a lot of good color, and that light shining down from the upper left...
I bet it's a smile from on high.

Great Job IG, and I look forward to the winter shots and the world's first glimpse of the broads ice in and ice out!!!!!!

Snake Eyes should be back this weekend if I can get a modem to test here in central MA and the weather is good enough to get out to the island.

Thanks all for your patience.

Talking Soon

I have tested the camera and it does work. For the techies out there, the DNS for my ISP changed, the new DNS works over broadband. I cannot test it on the modem until I get to the island. If I can get a ride out there on Saturday I will travel to NH to do it.

Until then enjoy the Red Sox pictures I took a few weeks ago. Maybe tomorrow I will put up something else to look at while you wait for real webcam pics.

I do appreciate people letting me know when things are not working.

Island Girl

If you can dial into the axis server why can't you change the address for your ISP, save it, and then do a "disable" followed by an "enable" to restart the application?

I had a problem where I could dial in but my browser would not connect to the server. Turns out the server IP address had changed somehow, perhaps reset by the ISP? I was able to get the new address by clicking the details tab of my Dial Up Connection - Status Box.

I also had trouble with my modem or camera getting "hung" requiring a power reset. So I added a small programmable timer to the camera and modem power. At 2AM every morning the power goes off for 1 minute giving the system a power reset whether it needs it or not.

I'd love to give you a ride to the island Saturday but I will be at FENWAY PARK! GO SOX!

Default Camera is with me

I took the camera home as it was getting too cold to troubleshoot when I was there last weekend. I did not set the camera to receive phone calls as it interferred with receiving calls in the house.

We can take this offline. Please send me email through my profile. I would like to know more about that function, especially for the winter.
