Default Snowshoeing

Snow shoes on a hard packed "snow shoe" trail are, well...unnecessary. And loud. And most of the people we meet along the way are carrying their snow shoes. I don't blame them.

I would love to find some more remote snow shoe areas, and I'm sure the problem I stated above is due to my own lack of knowledge about where to go for a wilder feel, where the snow shoes are actually an asset to the hike.

Page pond maybe? Any challenging areas in the White Mts. recommended? What about Mount Shaw?

One solution is to get out early after a fresh snowfall, which is awesome, but also random.

Any brilliant ideas?
