Another Lake Winni

Anybody ever hear of this Lake Winni?http://www.lakewinnie.com/
It's an amusement park in Tennessee.Just a little bit smaller though.Who knew.

The ammusement park is located in LakeView, Georgia.

But the town.. (all 2.3 Square Miles of it) dosen't have a lake..

Geography

Lakeview is located at 34°58'42" North, 85°15'26" West (34.978472, -85.257346)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.3 square miles (5.9 km²), of which, 2.3 square miles (5.9 km²) of it is land and 0.44% is water.

Well if .44% of the town is water.. at least they won't have any speed limit debates going on.

The parks own website says Tennesse? Are they confused?

Thats kind of strange.The home page says Lake Winnipesaukah amusement park Chattanooga Tennesee.Look at the directions and it's located in Rossville Georgia.

In Wikipedia,Lakeview says that it has zero water.Where did the name come from?Anyway,I hope that I did not too far off of the lakes region discussion with this thread but I thought the connection to our Lake Winni was appropriate.

Same situation....Rossville is on the state line - closest BIG city would therefore be Chatanooga TN!

Been there - it's like (though considerably smaller than) Canobie Lake Park Amusement Park in Salem, even has a Cannon Ball Roller Coaster like Canobie Lakes!!

I'm a new member who has lurked and loved this forum for over a year. I used to live in Laconia, and moved to AL almost ten years ago. I get my home and lake fix from here, as I always loved Lake Winnipesaukee. I finally decided to jump in when the lake with (almost) the same name came up today. People here have told me about Lake Winnepesaukah. They say Chattanooga, but the GA line is very close, and they are not that particular! Wilwoodfam has the jump on me, because I have not actually been there, but have heard enough to know it is not even close to our Winni (but what is???).

I enjoy all of you who post, and especially Steve A, who adopted the older cat, Leo, who "would work for catnip"!!

I apologize in advance if I mess this post up. This is all very new for me!

They just have a funny way of spelling it: LAKE WINNEPESAUKAH. Maybe that's a phonetic spelling with a southern drawl. Maybe the Indians there had a different accent than the northerners ....

Lake Winnie is physically located in Rossville, GA, but the TN state line is across the street. Rossville is small and not known outside of the Chattanooga area, therefore I suppose the park uses the Chattanooga name for tourist attachment. The park has been open since 1925 and you're right, there is no lake anywhere in the surronding area, not for maybe 30 miles. The park does have what I would call a large pond on the property, but I have no idea where the park name came from. I can only assume from the popularity of Lake Winnipesaukee.

There is another Lake Winnie as well. Lake Winnibigoshish in Minnesota. Pretty large and open lake, great fishing, mostly undeveloped shoreline.
