Default Old Fire/Lookout Towers

Hope everyone is doing and feeling well.

I was wondering if anyone had any information on the locations/photos of old fire towers around the lake especially in the Alton/Moultonborough area. Thank you.

There are three within 30 or so minutes: Abenaki in Tuftonboro, which is more just an observation tower and Red Hill in Moultonborough and Belknap in Alton. The latter two are on the Tower Quest program, which is a patch for visiting 5 New Hampshire fire towers.

The Belknap Tower is in Gilford, not Alton. (It's ok T, you don't venture over to our side of the lake. )

Default Thank you

Thank you for the great information. I was looking also for names of very old fire towers that probably are not up anymore and most likely on private property by now. I was interested in the history of the fire towers.

Sorry I can't really offer that. For me, the towers are mostly hiking destinations. Good luck!

For clarification, the tower that is incorporated into St John's on the Lake (Meredith) was a private lookout tower, not a fire tower.
