What happened to Moxie?
Yesterday my daughter-in-law bought me a bottle of Moxie. It was the first time that I have had one since maybe 1960. I was never much a fan of Moxie because of that medicinal bitter after taste.
But this Moxie was totally different. It tasted kind of like sarsaparilla. I know that Coca Cola bought the brand some years ago, so I guess either my taste buds have changed or they changed the formula. And that's too bad, because Moxie was part of the local culture of this area for over one hundred years. Moxie isn't available anywhere else. So I was kind of sad that they changed it to just another drink, and let another bit of history of this area die with it. |

I grew up with the thoughts as a kid listening to dad and other grown ups that moxie would put hair on your chest and it would not mater if you were male or female.
Here is a great unbiased review .................. everything seems to be going ok until about 4:20 in the video. The facial expressions give it all away. Don't forget that back end. Moxie Original Elixir # The Beer Review Guy (Duration 7:05) Another video that gets right to it in about 23 seconds. Drink up |

Moxie
My brother, who lives in South Carolina is a big Moxie lover. He cannot get it down there so every time he comes to visit he stocks up while here.
I was never a Moxie lover actually can’t stand it but those who do like it are die hard Moxie enthusiasts! Dan

Seems silly to change it. If it was no longer the same it would not be Moxie. I get one every year or two to remind myself how gross it is or to trick someone else into trying it.
on the other hand I used to hate, hate, hate green olives and now love them so tastes do change |

I use Moxie in a marinade for Flat Iron steak. Makes an excellent tenderizer, and also adds great flavor.

I think of Moxie as something to use on rusted bolts if you don't have any liquid wrench
