Default New Marker - Witches

Didn't see this posted anywhere else --

Last evening, noticed that MP has placed a new "DANGER" buoy on the West side of the witches. To me it appears they have substituted this new buoy for the former Red Top usually in this position.

Default Overrated

If we just changed the name there wouldn't be so much Hoorah. Fifty years ago MP ringed the Witches with orange barrels with wide white reflective strips. That lasted just a few years, and hen they wee gone. I'm unaware of that making any difference. To me, when FL71 was added, it just made nighttime navigation m orfe difficult, as it was easy to pick up FL71 and go west thinking it was FL28. Now that "everybody" uses GPS more markers should not be necessary. Maybe next year I'll get my own GPS and I won't have to keep my eyes on where I'm going in relation to other boats.

This is actually worse because if in fact a red top was replaced with this, it provides no context as to where the "danger" is how to approach and or avoid whatever it is, in fact you gotta get closer to the hazard just to see what the new buoy says.

This would be VERY confusing to a new boater or somebody new to navigating the lake.

Concur.

Also, the holder of a paper chart is not likely to have this marker and will look for the old one.

Is it possible that the old one was damaged and the only thing available to replace it was this danger buoy?
