Default Gaga

Has anyone heard any rumblings around the lake about Lady Gaga becoming the next celebrity resident? I've heard from a close friend of mine (who works for The Bean Group) that Gaga is expected here later this week to tour several properties around the lake - 2 of which are on GI. He told me that for a client this prominent, the Bean Group is actually flying in one of their top reps from NY to entertain Gaga & her posse. Just curious as to what others have heard and/or think about this ...

I heard she's moving to MA... not NH. I'm trying to remember the source - I think it was on NECN news....

I don't think anyone would even notice her. I mean her clothes just fit right in around here....
But hey maybe she could play at Meadow Brook every once in a while...

If she was coming to NH, maybe that meat dress of hers would help with the black bear problem...

Default This place should work for her!

Sell her Marc Bourgeois' (MB Tractor) place which is on the market for a mere $10,000,000. Saw the for sign when I passed by there yesterday. 22,000 sq ft, 5 bedrooms 10 baths.

Although she is building a house in New England you may have the location wrong. It is on Chappaquiddick Island (off Martha's Vineyard).

Quote:
...building on her eco-friendly 8 bedroom manse began last September.

The compound is replete with tennis courts, swimming pool, a studio, and sources say, is the 25 year old’s “dream home.”

As is the custom for New England cottages, Gaga’s beach house will also have an appropriate name: “GG’s Playpen!”

The “Chappy Ferry” holds just 3 cars, and Lady Gaga is expected to have her own private ferry to shuttle her back and forth to the mainland.
Her neighbors will be David Letterman, Bill Murray, Spike Lee, Tony Shalhoub, Ted Danson and wife Mary Steenburgen, Larry David, the Farrelly brothers, Vernon Jordan, and Jim Belushi. I doubt a house on the lake would be exciting enough for her.

I have to laugh. All these "green" preaching celebrity people build these "green" 2nd, 3rd, or 10th houses that get used a month or two here and there. And then they will be on the tube telling us how to be gentler on the earth.

I've never heard any significant tree-hugger rhetoric from Lady Gaga, but it's possible I missed something. What statements of hers are you referring to?

He's referring to the first line of the quote above, posted by the Webmaster. It reads: "...building on her eco-friendly 8-bedroom manse began last October..."

Harrumph.

She took the mantle that Madonna surrendered and ran with it.

Trendy to a fault, but also trend setting and at the top of her game.

Bravo, Lady, Bravo!

WOW ! What has Lady GaGa done to anyone on this forum ? Sure she is different. Who cares !!
She found her niche in life and has taken it to the top. I say Good for Her !!
I am sure we all wish we could be so talented and fortunate in our lives.
If she were to buy a home in the lakes region I would be happy to welcome her. Behind her security and underneath her outfits, wigs and make up, she is just like the rest of us !

You know what…she probably is just like the rest of us….BUT…she has become “a star”…so with that…..everything goes out the window.

I did not watch American Idol once this season until last week. My daughter and I used to watch it, but not this year. Last week, during the “finale” I was flipping channels and watched bits and pieces. She came out on some sort of Volcano or something and sang…and then a back up dancer was behind her, rubbing/groping her…and then the two of them were laying down…basically simulating a sex act. Trust me….I am not a prude….but when you think about the show she was on….the average viewing audience…shame on her and shame on the show’s producers. Kind of reminds me of when Madonna did her “sex coffee table book”. Just wish things did not have to go to such a low level.

Sorry….just my opinion. I did say…I do like some of her music. I am in between a rock and a hard place here!

Default Why does good entertainment have to be cluttered up with smut?

I'm with you about that American Idol performance... The oldest Arglet was watching that night, and I quickly ushered his attention elsewhere while that mess was on the TV. It reminded me of the Super Bowl half-time shows going from being G-rated to R-rated - there's no need for it!

I am old enought to know that the main reason performers try to get a significant potential audience to not appreciate them is it makes "you" like them more and thus they get a lot more $$$. She makes around $90 million a year. She seems to know what she is doing by putting some of us off.

I suspect if I liked her, she would only make about $5 million.

My parents did not care much for Elvis and the Beatles either. It's all good.

I still go with the 40's. Frank, Dean, the Andrew Sisters and all that great band music. Guy Lumbardo, Glenn Miller, plus too many to list. Guess those days are gone forever.

Now we have rap.

Default Baby, baby, I was born this way!

When I saw her 60 MINUTES INTERVIEW I learned that she is a role model to many dispossessed and fringe-type young people who look up to her honesty and for championing the cause that it's OK to be different. It's a positive mesage not unlike the current "It Gets Better" Campaign.

It's all good.

Default Sometimes I think..........................

That there is something about an anonymous forum that makes otherwise lovely people sometimes say things that do not do them justice.

I saw Lady Gaga interviewed and heard her speak lovingly about her Italian parents who had helped support her in all her young years . I don't remember it all, but it was an interview that might have made Lady Gaga be seen as honest, hard working, determined, sincere, open, kind, caring, respectful, and a role model for the lost and wondering if they will ever make it in our sometimes cruel society, etc. Lady Gaga's words seemed to be those of a young lady who at times seemed to almost break down in tears remembering being teased or trying to find her way to fame amidst doubters.

So now at age twenty five, Lady Gaga is on top of the world. While working hard, she wants to have a place here and there to feel safe from crowds and to have some private time for her friends and family in her private life. This seems to make sense to me. I wish her all the luck in the world.

If any celebrity who comes to the lake gets attacked in an other wise helpful and supportive Forum like this one (such as Rosy was) why would they come here? Don't we want all to feel welcome??? Maybe I am missing something. It sure seems to me that in a down economy, we want celebrities to bring their fame and fortune, and many FOLLOWERS??? I know. Some will say we all want only peace and quiet, while neighbors lose their jobs and homes.

It would seem that attacks on people, places, and things are just the stuff of boredom or something. I personally know a lot of wonderful helpful people on this forum who are kind, supportive and a real blessing to have in my life. God Bless.

...I don't think anyone here "attacked" her...

I think she's one of those acts that people either like or hate...

Thank God we don't all have the same taste in things because it sure would be a boring forum... and that's never the case here, that's for sure!

Wasn't Frank associated with organized crime and if I am not mistaken Dean was a falling down drunk. well at least he had a drink in his hand all the time when he performed.
BTW I do like Bing Crosby and Bob Hope

I can understand if you feel my post was an attack. It was very strong. But is is certainly not something I would ONLY say on a forum, where nobody knows me. I have said it before in a conversation with other people.

I may have heard the same interview she gave....it was a while ago, before I really knew anything about her. She spoke so nicely about her parents and the support she gets from them. I was impressed. Now, it is just seeing some of her stuff, that I consider to be "over the top" and it IMO is not necessary.

Sinatra was never found to be associated with organized crime and anyone who is familiar with Dean Martin know that his drunk act was part of his gimmick, kinda like saying Red Skelton was really a Hobo!

To even talk about or compare lady GAGA in the same sentence as Sinatra and Martin is a travesty in my opinion. Frank and Deano are irreplaceable icons in the entertainment, and music industry. They were and still are larger than life! Lady GaGa will be long forgotten when they are still playing New York New York, Summerwind, Everybody loves Somebody, Mambo italiano, etc, etc.

Long live the Chairman and Deano!!

First let me say I agree with you on all of your points. Frank and Dean are irreplaceable icons. I even alluded to Dean's drunkenness being an act. I also agree about Gaga's longevity and let me add that she is one of the biggest copycats ever. Can anyone say Madonna???
RailroadJoe actually started the comparison, the only point I was trying to make was that I can't see anyone in the entertainment industry that doesn't have skeletons in their closet.
While he was never proven to have ties there were enough situations that his name was involved in to write a few books. Just Google Frank Sinatra Organized Crime..and yes I know everything you read on the internet is not true

Although this is about Lady Gaga, I did bring Frank and Dean into the conversation. Just remember, even our great JFK was linked to the mob. Who really cares on the one issue when we try to measure the total of the person.

Lets get back to Gaga and her money.

If we are lucky enough to have had closets in our lives, most of us probably have left behind a few skeletons?

I like GaGa, but it's no secret that she 'draws inspiration' (read: copies) others. Irish singer Roisin Murphy, from the electronic duo Moloko is probably the most notable.

Default I do not know Lady Gaga

So have no horse in this race (How about that Belmont Horse....that is a horse I would like to have had though Animal Kingdom may have won the race but for that incident at the start.) So I am sticking to something in my brain that remembered, "Imitation is the purest form of flattery???" I am not in any danger as I cannot carry a tune!!! LOL
