Come learn about the Belknap Mountains, and why it is important to protect them! The Belknap Range Conservation Coalition (BRCC) invites you to joint them at their first Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 3 (Rain date: Sunday October 4) at 8:00 am in the parking lot for Mount Major in Alton, off Route 11. Coffee and donuts will be served. From 8:30am until noon, the BRCC will host information booths in the Mt Major parking lot and at the summit with information about the Belknap Range, its trails and its conservation lands. A large map of the Belknap Range and annotated photographs will be available for viewing. Maps of the Belknap range and of Mount Major can be purchased for a small fee. Information will be available about the hiking patch sponsored by the Belknap County Sportsmen’s Association. Pine Mt. Snowshoe Hike
The Alton Parks and Rec dept has scheduled a 2/27/2010 "Full Moon" hike up Pine Mt. on the Evelyn H. & Albert D. Morse, Sr. Preserve. See:
http://alton.nh.gov/CalendarDetail.asp?ID=3458 The Morse Preserve trail head is about 300' south of the town forest parking area on Avery Hill Road. Use the town forest parking and then walk down and across the road to the Morse trail head. See mcdude's post for the story about the Morse Preserve. This was the view from the top of Pine Mt. on 1/27/2010. The hike is fairly easy and the view is great. |
