Default New webcam for lakes region bird watchers

I just added a bird feeder webcam. I'm still playing around with different feeder setups.

Default Excellent

I love the cam! Black oil sunflower seed is selling for 19.95 per 50 lb bag down here in CT at our local Agway. I couldn't help but notice that that is what is in your feeder. Great View. Thanks.

Oh, I forgot to say again, that your Ossipee cam is fantastic!

Right now would be a good time RLW. It's 3:45 PM. Mornings (8-9) and late afternoons 3-5 are the times that most birds feed. here's the the pic.

I have a question for paddler. Does the streaming video work for the feeder cam? I tried today and it didn't do anything.

I hope I don't see one. If I do it will be the first time in over 20 years of living here.

There is no streaming video because the image is captured with an Olympus SP 500 UZ camera. I found out about the setup from a thread here on the forum. http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/...ead.php?t=7183 There is a time lapse feature in the software that I plan on using in the future.

...those f*#%@n squirrels. At my place I keep a hose handy and spray them with water when they attack the feeders. My neighbor thinks I'm nuts but I get a kick out of it. The squirrels hate to get wet!!

My son is a paintball player. I purchased some ammo for him yesterday, to be specifically used for target practice on squirrels attacking our feeders.

So, if you see any painted squirrels...

So a red squirrel might not necessarily be a red squirrel?

trfour: Where was that sequence shot? That's hilarious.

Years ago, while backpacking in the Great Smokies with friends, I had a couple of very tenacious bears pull a similar stunt with our supposedly bear-proofed food. As we always did in bear country, we strung out food way up between two trees in a mesh hammock. That night, the bears kept coming and one eventually climbed the tree, hung on the rope suspending the hammock and broke it -- crashing to the ground and making off with the hammock. The next day, we recovered two of the three bags that he'd taken off with.

He'd also absconded with one of my friends' backpacks, which we found discarded in the brush. He's torn a pocket off the side and bitten through the metal body of an SLR camera. I have some photos of the mess and will post.

When they're determined, they are hard to stop!

Okay, I am now returning this thread to the subject at hand sorry for hijacking. I love the bird feeder cam.

SS, thanks.

Grant, pics were sent to me by a friend. No history of origin, too cool not to share though.
