Default Polaris sl 650 1994 jet ski

I replaced the throttle cable but am unable to restore tension to the thumb control-help!

if possible might have to cut the cable shorter and soder new end to it, or get a longer/stronger recoil spring on the throttle body

tough to tell without pictures or what was done
