I have two snaps (on screws) that have come out of the side of the of my boat, and I have tried an adhesive to try and fill the hole with the screw snap but it has not worked.
Does anyone have any ideas or what have you done in the past.

If that fails, a larger diameter screw may be available but one must carefully drill the gelcoat hole wider so it won't crack when you screw it in. |

Right. Drill hole the correct size for the screw and then use a countersink bit to open the top of the hole a bit so gel coat won’t crack.

If you go to a shop that handle makes canvas tops often they have snaps with a few different screw sizes, and you can just move to the next larger screw size. I did that once many years ago on my fathers boat, and it simplified the need to try and refill the exsisting hole etc.

AC2717;
I have found that the JB Weld fix I mentioned above ends up being much stronger than the original fiberglass / gel coat. At least that has been my experience with the many I have repaired. If you have access to the backside of the fiberglass, they also sell a machine thread snap that you can put a nut and backing washer on. I have all kinds of snaps at my camp if you need some. Feel free to PM me if you want a few. Dan

thank you everyone, I was able to use a bigger screw head snap for one of the snaps, but the whole on the second one was too big even for the larger snap screw, appears this was worked on before. I can get to the back of it so I am trying to find a snap head separate of the screw so I can use a stainless pan head machine screw to put through the Snape with a fender washer and nylon lock nut on the back side of the fiberglass. I went to Lowes and Heaths (trustworthy) no such luck on the snap heads

I would add that I have found that the best fix for a situation like this, if you can get to the back of the fiberglass is a wood block behind the fiberglass, caulk, and a longer screw.
