I had similar infestation but on my boat at the dock. THOUSANDS of them clinging to it. But, my neighbors boat and dock about 250' away had none. I am wondering if being closer to a nest determines where they congregate.

My dog loves to be outside so I tie her up outside my house in Meredith with no problems. A week ago I went to a friends house in Rumney to give him a hand with his car.
I tied her up outside and checked on her a few hours later and the poor thing had welts all over her stomach from black flies. Last edited by Biggd; 06-07-2021 at 06:30 PM. |

Ha! Learn something new today! I wonder if they like my boat better because my lot has tree shade over the water and the neighbor’s does not. If I could invite them to dinner we could all eat 😉

May is a big month for them hatching. The Nymphs rise from the bottom and hatch. The adults you see in your picture only live for about 24 hours
