Default Flying Yankee

Someone in NHDOT recently brought to my attention efforts to restore a historic 1935 streamline train called the Flying Yankee. This train was owned by the state of NH up until this past July, when the state transferred ownership over to a nonprofit group called the Flying Yankee Association. Although the train never traveled along the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee regularly, it did make occasional appearances, usually on a Sunday special only trip either up to Woodsville, NH or Lincoln, NH from Boston. It was one of three trains ever built, and the non-profit organization is undertaking the daunting task of trying to restore the train but needs donations. The train had been stored at the Hobo Railroad up in Lincoln, NH for several years but was just recently moved to Conway, NH home to the Conway Scenic Railroad, who is involved with helping the non-profit bring this historic train back to operation. While Massachusetts has the USS Constitution, New York has the Statue of Liberty, New Hampshire has its own unique piece of history in train called the Flying Yankee, if you are into history and like to see important pieces of history saved or even just a train buff, please check the association and their efforts and give them a helping hand. It appears that right now ever dollar donated is being match, check them out at https://flyingyankee.org/ or check them out on social media at https://www.facebook.com/flying.yankee/

Is the Flying Yankee a steam or diesel powered locomotive?
