Default Water quality

There have been many threads about the degradation of water quality over the years. I bring this up because there is a article in the LDS today about the Winnipesaukee River Basin Project. This project started in 72 and culminated in 93 when Gunstock Rec Area was connected to the system. Prior to this project Tilton, Northfield, Franklin discharged sewage directly into the Winnipesaukee River which leads to the Merrimack. Laconia and Laconia State School primary treatment plants discharged into Lake Winnisquam, Meredith discharged into Meredith Bay, Center Harbor discharged into Center Harbor Bay all without secondary treatment to remove nutrients.

The WRBP built a system that collected affluent and using pumping stations carried it to a new wastewater treatment plant in Franklin. Maybe because of the WRBP water quality is better now than in the old days. Although, the knee jerk reaction is water quality is so much worse now. Maybe not. Also, septic systems are probably much better now.
