Default Pine Cone Cafe

We took the whole clan to the Pine Cone in Melvin Village last Sat. We phoned ahead to see how long a wait there would be, and were told we'd be fine. We were seated right away, ordered, and waited, and waited, and waited some more...this with 2 young children. There were too many takeout orders for pizza, etc, and those seated had to be prepared to sit. Meals were so-so...prime rib was tough, my son's chicken was cold, and my wrap was mediocre. The kids loved their pizza. All said, I wish we had stayed home, grilled some dogs and burgers, and enjoyed ourselves on the screened porch. A neighbor of ours complained about a similar experience. Maybe they are spread too thin with 3 restaurants.
P.S. Our waitress ended up tending bar. which didn't help our service. We stood up as though we were leaving before the hostess came with our check!!!

Been there many times. The pizza is decent as is the quesidia. We tend not to eat there in the summer for reasons you listed. Try it in the fall, spring or winter and you will like it better. When we go for dinner we tend to hit it before 6pm. All in all it is average a commonality for dining at the lake IMO.

I have to agree with SAB1. I avoid eating out from Friday evening to Sunday morning in season. I just can't deal with the crowd and the wait. During the week, dining out is a lot better!

I agree Broadhopper. I leave all our usual local restaurants to the tourists on weekends during the summer. We eat in on weekends. Love being a local, so I can enjoy all the great places we have in town all yeR round when they're not so stressed by crowds.

I'm very thankful for the tourists though, our local businesses need and deserve a great summer season.

Totally agree. We leave all the restaurants to all the tourists on the weekends. And that also goes for the lake. We've learned it's too crowded on weekends and much nicer on weekdays!

I had the prime rib once and it was tough-too tough for a restaurant. Really like their pizza. We always avoid the weekends and holidays for dining out. Rumor has it that the owners are considering closing the PC during the week in the winter, possibly closing on Mon-Wed.
