Default On Water Gas Hours

Other than Anchor Marine, what other gas stations are open past 5:00 P.M.??

I can't tell you how many times I have been low on fuel on a late afternoon weekend and Anchor Marine has come through every time! I can never seem to find a place open for gas after 5:00 P.M. Are there any others??

Default Pier 19 open until 9

You can get ice cream, gas and hot dogs (which may be recursive) until 9PM at Pier 19, located in 19 mile bay. Just hope you don't get there a few minutes after the camp barges filled with kids do.

Wow -I never buy gas on the lake cause I can trailer my rig, but I'm really surprised they don't leave the pumps on and take credit cards 24X7. Must be some sort of DES rule that prevents them from doing so without an attendant present.

Default that would require pay at the pump

and I have not seen any Marina pumps that are pay at the pump. And I am not sure I would want to see some of our boaters trying to put gas into their boats without spilling fuel into the lake. I just don't have the confidence in a lot of them to do it carefully and properly .

Good points, Up... I would like to add that the mostly younger aged gas dock attendants, need to pay close attention in their petroleum transfer skill training, so as to prevent spilling fuel on customers in their boats! One of my sister in-laws had fuel spilled on her while refueling on the Lake, no injury as she had the presents of mind to jump out of the boat into the lake to rinse off. Move your passengers away from the refueling area!

You are suppossed to take everyone off the boat while you fuel.

The proper way to fuel your boat is as follows:

From BoatUS:
Secure boat to the dock
Switch off engine(s)
Extinguish all open flames
Do not use electrical switches
No smoking
Ports, hatches, and doors closed
Make certain all passengers are ashore
Determine quantity of fuel required and make sure it is the proper type of fuel
Hold hose nozzle firmly against fill pipe opening
Do not overfill
Wipe up all spillage
Open ports, hatches, and doors to ventilate
Turn blower on for four minutes minimum
Do the sniff test
Start engine(s)
Re-board Passengers
Untie from dock and cast off

I was fueling up at West Alton Marina yesterday (I got there just before they closed at 5:00pm) and was informed that Minge Cove is open until 6:00pm (but be prepared to pay more for the fuel).

Default Prices

I never could figure out why some marinas charge so much more than others for fuel. Usually I hear it’s dependent on the size of their tank in relation to what they buy. Bigger volume = cheaper price on their end.
Anyways another thing to consider is weather the fuel is pre treated with stabilizer or not. Lakeport & Channel both sell treated gas. If you burn through the fuel in less than 30 days no problems either way, but if the fuel sits longer then it should be treated with one of the new stabilizers not the old red type. Yup it adds a little more to the cost of boating but not as much as the consequences.

I refuse to buy gas from Hugo Chavez no matter what the price might be.

Sorry to say, Pier 19 is not opening thus year and therefore no gas.

There is a current thread on this. You may want to search it for more info. Search Pier 19.

Reminder that a Winnie Forum member has put together a Winni Gas site, to help keep track of prices, open hours, and other information. That URL is here:

http://winnigas.com/

And, the original Forum thread that discussed that is here.

Prices should be entered without the $. So all you should have entered was 3.24

Thanks, I'll look into it today.

You can always treat your own fuel. I swear by a product called Startron. Been using it for 20+ yrs and haven't had to rebuild a carb in anything I own yet, ie: Boats, lawnmower, snowblower, weed whacker, chain saw, 2 stroke, 4 stroke doesn't matter, and you don't have to worry about "overdosing". Stuff is phenomenal!! And NO I don't work for Startron, just a rare product that actually works as advertised...

I just fixed this, it was an embarrassing but simple error.

Normally, the best place to report issues is to use the WinniGas.com "Contact US" feature.

I entered this price as a test, and it's working now.

Thanks for the report.
