Police Along Rt. 3
Anyone know why there were police along Rt. 3 today (10/12)? They started at the intersection of Rt. 3 and Roller Coaster Rd and went all the way to Griddle in the Middle, with a few spots in between. At Griddle in the Middle, there was an officer with rifle.
Any info? |

From the Laconia Sun FB page
A manhunt appears to be underway near the town line between Meredith and Laconia. Police have closed a section of Route 3, from Rollercoaster Road in Laconia to the traffic circle in Meredith. Meredith Police are looking for a man wearing a gray long-sleeved T-shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap. Belmont police were unable to confirm whether the subject of the manhunt is related to the shooting in that town yesterday. Update: Police are focusing their attention on the Vacation Escapes motel in Meredith.

massive traffic tie up
I was caught in the detour and I have to say the young state trooper (he looked to be 16) at the traffic circle could have done a much better job not having a 45 second conversation with every third car coming around the circle. He alone caused the traffic mess to be much worse than it needed to be.

He is trying his best to direct traffic AWAY from a man hunt. Weather you knew that or not..... HE DID! Every single car that passes by is asking him "what's going on". So he does his best to answer with what he can, to get traffic moving again. How long did you harass him about "What's going on" or "being the cause of the tie up"? 45 seconds? |

traffic delay
I think the trooper should have just waved people forward and not engaged in a conversation when there was a two mile long jam on 106 caused in large part because of these long conversations. There is a time and place for conversation and this wasn't it. That's all I was saying.

It is also very possible that the junior Trooper was told or decided himself to keep traffic slow and take a closer look into the cars. They were looking for a shooting suspect after all.

It's hard to believe if the police believe an active shooter is in the area that someone actually is irritated to be inconvienced for a period of time. Good grief the world has changed. People have no tolerance for anything anymore. By in large the cops know what they are doing. Why not give them the opportunity to do what they have been trained to do. Their lives are on line anytime these situations evolve.

Also, many travelers may not be local, and busy peeping at leaves. They are unfamiliar with the area, and ask more detailed questions. Do you want them to go away from the area with a sour taste in their mouths because the local police brushed them off with a quick response to their questions?

Mishman
All he was doing was bitching about a traffic delay. He was not privy at that time to any more info than that and he commented that he wished the Trooper had moved things along a bit quicker and for that he gets beat up.

Or, he could have been doing a cursory look in cars for the suspect? Whatever the reason, I think we all need to step back and realize the extremely difficult job they have to do.

Gees people lighten up a bit
I was just making a comment. These were not quick conversations. All the cars around me were also irritated at the length and frequency of these conversations. I was making a constructive comment and don't need to be hanged for it!

This is the problem police are having in this country. People think they know how law enforcement should do their jobs without any knowledge, training or experience to back up their comments. I bet that traffic back up was a pain to sit in but it could not have been nearly as painful as what the woman with a bullet in her head went through. Your reaction to this situation would have been constructive if you could have showed just a little appreciation for it. I would also like to know if you spoke with this young trooper. |
