Plane flying low over the lake today?
I swear I spotted a large low-flying plane that dipped behind the trees today at Twentymile Bay. When we got to Nineteenmile, nothing was visible. Did anyone else see something or do I need my vision checked?

No, you are absolutely right. In fact I was talking to my neighbor and she said it looked like it landed at 20 Mile Bay so funny you should mention that! It was very low here over WH.

I saw it too, while I was out picking blueberries. Went north over Melvin Island up towards Twenty Mile bay, turned around and went back towards SW. Very low, almost looked like a small transport plane. I didn't see any pontoons.

I know that one
They practice touchdowns with those military cargo planes in Manchester. I was at auto fair last year and that plane must of touched down 20 times and took back off without stopping. Circled around and did it again. Salesman says they do it all the time

I didnt see it, but it sounded like a C-130 flying out Alton Bay late morning or early afternoon. It happens enough I didn't pay attention to the time.

plane today
We were in Paugus this afternoon and saw this very, very low flying plane coming towards us. The nose was a shape of a bullet (not like the one in the photo of the C-130 in this thread it had 6 engine props and no markings on the plane. We have been looking for photos of c-130 this evening and nothing matches this unless new design? 4 of us saw it and watched in amazement and how low!

Well I know that I saw a C-130 which has 4 engines. I'm sure there are some but a 6 engine airplane of any type is pretty rare. Possible I suppose. Again, what I saw was a C-130 without a doubt.

I thought the plane had a twin tail, but didn't get more than a moment's glimpse of it.

We got a great view of the plane from the W Alton sandbar as it flew low over Sleepers. Not sure about any reports of skinnydippers

You sure it was six engines and not this c-130 with drop tanks?
Also note the nose on this one. |

So glad I found this forum and this information - we were at the lake in Melvin Village and we had no idea what it was! My nephew was filming with my GoPro when it happened so I got footage:

It buzzes our place in Barrington every week. Flies about 500 ft over the tree tops and shakes the house like crazy! BTW the loons don't like it either.

C-130
This workhorse has a bit of history and more than a few variants in design and outfitting. From high tech covert ops to fire fighter.

C-130
I live in Twenty Mile bay. It was definitely a C-130. Trust me I have been under a lot of them so I know what they look like from underneath.

A few years ago, a group of Veterans in my home town took it upon themselves to clean up and repair the Vietnam/Korean War Veterans memorial that had neglected and was in pretty sad shape.
They did this with private money and without the consent of the town gov't. They just showed up on a Saturday and went to work. Had everything wrapped up in a few weekends. During the re-dedication ceremony, they arranged for a military fly-over with a local resident piloting the aircraft. The police department was flooded with phone calls. One of the officers, who was a Veteran himself, was at the station at the time the calls started coming in. One citizen complained to the officer about the noise from the fly-over, the call went something like this - (keep in mind, one of the neighboring towns has a military air base) caller - "I want to complain about the noise caused by that low flying plane through the center of town" officer - "Yes ma'am, did you see the plane?" caller - "Of course I saw it, I was in my yard and that plane couldn't have been more than a few hundred feet over my head" officer - "Thank you. Can you tell me, was it one of ours?" caller - "What do you mean, one of ours?" officer - "Was it a US airplane?" caller - "I believe it was" officer - "Well then I will relay your concern and your thanks to the pilot, the Veterans assembled in the town square and the families of those whose names are on the plaque for allowing them to keep you safe" (click) |

Air Show?
At 12:15 today, I saw a C-130 flying north right over Wolfeboro.
Earlier—at Noon—I'd seen a B-17 bomber flying on the same path! |
