This is such a great event, and I admire all who participate. It takes a lot of discipline training for any competition, but a triathlon is exceptional.
I just may ... VOLUNTEER this year!

What was 6-months out is THIS WEEKEND. Some of the best triathletes in the world are here. This pic is of defending women's champ (and world ironman champ for 2007,08 and 09) Chrissie Wellington of Britain. Can you smile while running 13.1 miles (half-marathon) AFTER swimming 1.2 miles and biking 56 miles?
She is back to defend.

I did the race yesterday. Chrissie Wellington was pretty cool. She beat me by almost 2 hours, but she stuck around at the finish line to put the finisher medal around my neck and many other finishers. It meant a lot to those who had a goal of just finishing let alone winning the event.

Congatulations to you for finishing. It is really awesome that Crissie did that, how may finishers were there?

I've been around Chrissie twice while shooting the event. She is a most gracious pro. As the current FULL Ironman female champ and one who finishes in the top ten OVERALL, she truly appreciates the support she receives when she comes here (from England) to compete. Also, let's not forget Andy Potts, the male winner who hung out at the finish signing autographs for all who asked.
If you would like to see a slide show w/audio, I have it posted at www.lakesregionspirit.com. Free registration is required, just so you know. Congrats to all who competed. I am a pretty serious runner, but don't swim much at all and don't own a road bike, but covering this event has me thinking of competing next year.
