Sailing on Winnipesaukee - June 19
Had a great time sailing... Was a bit too windy Sunday when we first went out. Only needed the main sail. But after the wind calmed down a bit we were able to raise the jib and run back upwind on a close reach.
Here's the video! There was very few boats out on the water. Very sad to see on such a beautiful day with plenty of wind to share. See you on the water! Carter |

Wind was serious in Alton Bay on Father's Day. Produced good chop in Broads and mouth of the bay. Still a lovely day, went swimming with my daughter. 10 year olds can swim all day in the cold water........

Team Oracle...
I'm envious. It looks like a gorgeous day for a relaxing sail.
Here's a typical day on San Francisco Bay, in contrast, as Team Oracle practiced for the America's Cup last week...Sorry, you'll have to copy and paste the address. I can't get it to post as a hyperlink. Worth the effort. http://www.sail-world.com/USA/Americ...-+-Video/84704

Wow, that's the first time I've seen a boat bury it's bow and have the stern go straight up like that.
Amazing. I have all the wind I need on this lake. I like going fast, but I also enjoy the cruising aspect where I can sail and eat / drink while underway. So I'm not a big racer... I might look into one race for the fun of it this year, but it would be for the fun of it. I've been sailing for years but now that I have my own boat I'm in charge of, I see myself pulling a ton of rookie mistakes. Re-learning has been good for me, and thankfully this lake offers me lots of opportunities to iron out those kinks. Example: The main sail was great, but next time I'll reef it, and toss up the storm jib and see how that makes the boat go. |

Sailing
Thanks for sharing the video. Makes me want to find a way to bring my 1983 Catalina 25 with me when I move up. Sadly selling it. (Too much $$ to have it hauled up from NJ, too much $$ to store in winter and summer at marinas)
http://www.catepoole.com/Mysterious_For_Sale/Home.html I'll be looking to crew or provide a helping hand for other sailors. |
