Default .... remembering Gunstock College 1969

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catego..._New_Hampshire

New Hampshire is the one and only state in the country that does not
exempt private colleges above the 12th grade from paying local property taxes.

So, while NH private schools with grades 8-12 like Brewster Academy and The Holderness School which go up through grade-12 do not pay property tax, the NH private colleges with grades for freshman-sophomore-junior-senior do indeed pay property tax, or at least they did until they closed.

Two local closed colleges that don't appear on the list are Belknap College in Center Harbor, and Gunstock College in Gilford which were a big loss for both towns and communities in terms of bringing young people into the area.

"New Hampshire dun don't need none of that book school learn'n stuff for our young folk ……. if they want to go to a fancy dancy college …...let em go somewhere else …….. becuz if they stays here …... we need to tax that local private college just like it was a business or a 6 home!

Quote from Joe & Jane republican state legislator …… ayuh …… let em go to that Trump College in Florida …… goodbye and good riddance …..who needs em!

Vermont has private colleges, Maine has Private colleges, Massachusetts has private colleges, but New Hampshire is like that empty hole in the middle of the old fashioned brown sugar donut, or something ....... chomp! ...... ain't nothing there? New Hampshire ...... the 'donut hole' state.

Why, I actually attended Gunstock College back in 1969 for just one year, and majored in 'Psychology of the Snowplow Turn' and minored in "Maintenance and Operation for the Modern Rope Tow Ski Lift' and this minor has helped me immensely throughout my long and highly distinguished career. .. .. yuck - yuck - yuck - ayuh - ayuh - ayuh ..... except I flunked out? ..... ..... so's that makes me a so-so qualified, unemployed rope tow repair specialist! .. ... Thankyou very much Gunstock College!

Fellow Belknapians can relate. Many roadtrips there and vice versa!
