Post Disney Sinkhole - Local Connection

Our friend Debbie Ward from Roche Realty was in the building when it collapsed.

She is fine and there were no injuries...

Probably happened because Disney was late paying their property taxes, and the town wanted to send them a message....

Default Sinkhole

I hope what FLL really meant to say was, "Gee, jetskier, I am sorry to hear about your friend, but relieved to know there were no injuries".

And, FLL, if you read the referenced article, it wasn't a Disney property at all, it was only in the Disney area.

Scary to think that the bottom of your house could just drop out of sight at any moment..Happy no serious injuries....Another 20 years and Fla. may be a past memory or a big lake

Default Causes of Sinkholes in Florida

Jetskier,

Glad to hear your friend Debbie is fine. That is a scary situation, mainly because no one can forewarn this before the tragedy. At least with a Hurricane or a Tornado, you get some warning to prepare.

Here is a link for more info and causes of sinkholes for Florida. Save Mickey Mouse, don't let him disappear.

I've always thought that the lowering of the aquafer from the increasing demand for ground water in that growing population was the culprit.Obviously the geography of how Florida was formed by limestone plays the major role.

Glad your friend is ok. We own a mobile home not too far from there. Pretty scary stuff.
