Problems with Parker Marine
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with Parker Marine?
I recently made an offer on a used Boat. They had to check it out with the owner since they were brokering the boat for a customer. My offer was accepted! By the time I got up to the store they had sold the boat. I felt this was unethical and told them that. They basically said "too Bad buddy" I think that if they did this to me they have probably done it to more people. |

A Little more Information please
I have not done anything with them, but how long of a time frame are you talking of about getting there?
If you started on your way there soon after them accepting, then yes I'd also have an issue. But if your talking a week later, then that's different, unless you told them that. How many times have people "said" they will be there and never ever showed up? That happens all the time in any retail business. In their view if it was more than a few days, well then " a bird in the hand" is in effect. |

If you let as much time pass between your join date and first post on the forum that might be the reason...

money down
If you're not a known customer, a dealer should take a few hundred dollars (a %) on a credit card by phone to seal the deal until you could sign papers at a pre-approved time. Without $$ and a predetermined cutoff, I'd agree, no deal. However it sounds like both sides were remiss in not being very clear about intentions and expectations. I'd expect a dealer to carry the load of being clear on down payment and expectations.

Did you have any discussion about how long they would hold the boat for you with nothing in writing? Was Parker aware of whether you would pay in cash, if you had the cash, or if you could get financing? What time period elapsed between when you were told your offer was accepted and you arrived at Parker to put it in writing? More information is needed before I would assume that Parker did anything wrong and I wouldn't be surprised if Parker's story about this is a little different. |

I had a car dealer in Virginia Beach do that to me before, very frustrating. Talked to him on a Thursday, agreed on a deal and offered him a credit card over the phone. He said no problem, we'd take care of it when he got back on Tuesday from a long weekend. Over the weekend someone else sold it.
Until some sort of money changes hands or papers are passed anything can happen. Was this a verbal offer and acceptance? |

OP has one post, hasn't been back, and no clear goal other than complain--methinks a troll.

Well it did take him 6 and half years to make 1 and only 1 post.
I'd say that's not really professional trolling or he's got lot's of patience. |
