Default Pizza in Alton?

Which is best - Alton Village Pizza or Anthony's at the circle?

My family is divided on this one...

My boys like Village Pizza best. They have a thicker crust and sweeter sauce. It is good pizza, in my opinion. The owners are super-nice folks and we've never had a messed up order in the 10 years we've been doing business with them.

Hubby and I like Anthony's at the circle store better. They have a rustic crust and lots of specialty toppings - more of an adult taste. I find their pizza to be a little more greasy - especially their pepperoni pizza. We've also had good service with them.

Because of the kids' preferences we eat pizza from Village Pizza far more often than from Anthony's. Both are good and highly recommended - it's just very different styles of pizza.

We normally had stoped at the Village for the pretty good pizza.

A while ago we tried Anthony's and liked it a little better. So two weeks later we got another at Anthony's and the center was soggy limp with oil.

So now we have gone back to the consistent pretty good pizza at the Village.

Default Village Pizza

Four of us got together for Pizza and beer at our house, and we did get our Pizza from Village Pizza. We all agreed that we just plain liked it better than Anthony's. Anthony's crust is thinner, but the quality just doesn't seem to be consistent, and we all felt Village pizza was better..

Oh, and the girls decided they liked the Pat O'Brien Hurricanes I made them, served in Hurricane Glasses, better than the beer. But that would be another thread!

Default Fresh or Frozen?

Do pizza places still make their own dough, or do they buy frozen from Kraft or Little Lady? I see Village making pizza in the back with what looks like fresh dough, but I've not seen dough getting thrown around like Vinnie's Pizza in Concord did when I was a kid. It'd be a real eye-opener to know that we were buying the same old reheated pie we could buy in Hannafords.
