Default Lake Monster saw his shadow

In case you haven't heard, the famous ground hog Punxatawney Phil was brought out of his hole in Pennsylvania in the usual ceremonial fashion this morning, and the official verdict is: "He saw his shadow." This means he is scared back into his hole for another 6 weeks -- 6 more weeks of winter.

Not to be outdone, Winni the Lake Monster popped his head up out of an ice fishing hole, and saw his shadow this morning. Yes, there was a sunrise.

Of course, there was no ceremony, and no one knows who actually saw Winni, but our beloved monster likes it better that way. In any case, 6 more weeks of winter!

Ah, yes, but some pretender to the groundhog thrown in Malvern, LI (Malvern Mel is his name), did not see his shadow so Long Island is to have an early spring.

Now, as for me, this kind of stinks. The NY area has its first snow-free January in 75 years! For a snow lover like me this is the absolute worst news ever.

I am ever hopeful for February, but Malvern Mel kind of put the kabosh on my hopes.

Go Patriots!

Cool

Hi there!

Winni is a girl monster and is a daughter of the famous Nessie who lives in Loch Ness in Scotland! Many years ago after the Laird bade Nessie's children begone from the Loch, our beloved Winni swam and swam over the Atlantic until she found an underground tunnel off the coast of Maine. After swimming under water for a long long time, she popped up in the Lake now known as Lake Winnipesaukkee where she has been ever since. How do I know these facts, you may ask - the reason being I invented her about 10 years ago after visiting Sandy Island - and her legend has been growing ever since! Of course only special people see Winni (who is a great friend of the loons - and loonies!)
