Default Possible "Storm of the 2012-2013 Winter" coming starting 2/27

Looking at the storm now in the mid-west and the output from the models, the upcoming storm will likely be the storm of the winter for the lakes region. That is if we measure storms by snowfall alone.

My opinion right now is for a solid 12" to 18"+ of heavy, wet snow across the area. This is a bit higher than most forecasts at this time, but that is what I think will happen. Another long duration event. It looks like the lakes region is in the center of the heavy snow belt. It looks like the cold air mass will hold and with the amount of liqiud with this storm, this could go down as the big one.

Enjoy it while it is here. The big melt is straight ahead. The March sun and warmer temps will eat at the snow cover quickly.

Smile Hope you are wrong and the NWS is right.

I have been following this through the NWS, and they are predicting 8-12 through the 28th at 1PM. Good snow for the snowmobilers, skiers, and snowshoers.

Then let it melt nicely and get the golf courses dry by mid-April .

Oh not to worry, the snow we had last weekend has been reduced to not much more then slush. After the storm Thursday and Friday temps are going up to 40.
At least last year it stayed cold so what little snow we had we kept at least up north.
Drove past Paugus Bay on my way home, it looked like one big pile of slush. Cracks visible in the ice where water is coming up. I doubt there will be much lake riding for the foreseeable future.

8;18-am: Snow is starting to accumulate here in Waterville Valley; 29-degrees, snowing and windy. The roads turned white pretty fast. Is this the big one for 2013? This is looking like a big hairy storm right now with the big snow flakes whipping around sideways.
........
11-am: temp 31-degrees and the large wet flakes have changed over to a wintry mix of sleet or frozen slush .... wonder if it will change to rain......let it snow.....let it snow.....let it snow!

Just a thought FLL, at the end of the ski season when the snow Is gone, do you go back to water ville valley and demand a refund on your ski pass because of the lack of snow?

Default M'boro snow

Not a lot of snow. The recent storm was light in Moultonborough, 4 or 5 inches by me, and melting/consolidation had started before that. The ground is still covered but not deeply.
