Default Emergency Shelters in Lakes Region

As a precaution and for future reference, does anyone have a list or know where to find one? Pet friendly or not. We have been in the path of a tornado and hit hard by an ice storm and had to stick it out with no power, water or heat because we could not find a shelter that could accomadate our pets, one being a tropical bird and the other a toy fox terrier.
So knowing a place beforehand for our family to seek safety in an weather event would be great. We are in Alton.
Thanks

Can't help you with this one.Not to be a wise guy but if I was in your situation I would surely have back-up power as in a generator.I have bought a few that were not much more than $500-600 and ran everything I needed.

In Alton it is the high school; see:

There are considerations for pets. The senior center is the alternate.
